pipe problem

ok someone gave me this moderately crapy glass pipe a while black, but i discovered it actually hits pretty well, the only problem is, it has a larger then average hole on the bottom of the bowl... now i have an extra screen, but i know it can break the pipe, but otherwise the pipe is useless anyway, so i figured ill put the screen in their and if it breaks at least it had some use instead of none... is their any other reason why i shouldnt use a screen?

You don't have to use one. My old pipe was like that, you just have to learn to hit it right if you don't use a screen.

yea but this is a fairly large whole.... it would be more work then its worth to find some way to hit it correctly

the metal could get to hot and cause the glass to crack

i edited my other post but ill say it again, the screen which is made of metal often gets hot which can cause the glass to crack and eventually even break

thats never happened to me but ill belive it. and i cant think of ny other reasons you shouldnt use a screen

my oldest peice is a glass pipe, and its always had a metal screen in it

well im not entirely sure how common it is for you pipe to break due to a screen, all i know is it has been known to happen, thats why i posted here, to see how likely it is, i can now clearly see that it isnt likely and now im gonna toke, but ill still be on,

I don't think that the screen will get hot enough to crack the pipe... I gotta see it,,,the heat would dissipate pretty fast... I am not saying it is impossible but the chance seems slim...

I could not find one case on google...
