They say that nobody in England, with roots going back very far, is more than a 25th cousin to others with a long history of English ancestry. It's actually easier for Americans to trace family history from the colonial times, because there were far less people, and accurate records were kept. I didn't do it until I was an adult, when I found out about, and proved, my Mayflower ancestry.
