Where do bugs go in the wintertime?
Thanks for all that information, it was all very... informative. Euphoric, great site! And I thought I was the ONLY one to ever ask the question.
As far as my bug preference, I'm going to have to say that spiders scare the shit out of me. I'm a big outdoorsman, and I can handle most of the nasty, icky things that you run in to. But spiders bite me a lot, I have had several big and painful spider bites.
I dont think there is any consistency with who eats how many bugs in their sleep. I sleep face down, usually with my face stuffed in my pillow. I dont think spiders can really make it in there to my mouth, perhaps that is why they bite me instead. I have a friend who always sleeps on his back with his mouth hanging open, I'm sure his diet is high in protein and fibers.

Here's a funny story regarding eating bugs.
I was taking a biology class back in highschool, and one day we had to take all kinds of samples of things to view under a high-powered microscope. A girl in my group agreed to scrape the inside of her cheek, because the teacher told us that the skin in your mouth is very interesting. What we found under the microscope, was a fully intact insect leg. You could see the different parts of the leg all the way down to the little foot. The girl freaked out, and we asked her what she's eaten.. we just got back from lunch, and all she ate was french fries from the cafeteria.
Yum.

daddylonglegs are technically not spiders, they only have 2 body sections instead of 3 like arachnids
but I think most bugs just die when winter hits...the eggs hatch in springtime maybe? or they hibernate, that would do it
when I find an insect in my home I give it the old "WOH-PAH!" ninja strike technique. apparently my ninja skills are interesting to watch, because I actually do battle with the insect in question...they fly around my head as I do strange yelling and manouvres with my hands, chopping desperately at the air around me in hopes to destroy the winged invaders!
