I see no prob with it,,,I go to one store that sells the old and bruised vegg and fruit... I buy it cause most of it is expensive organic produce... I just bought 4 lbs of organic apples for 2.50 and they were going for 1.99 a lb... Like I said before,,,I watch the peeps fill big bags of bread and 5 minutes earlier peeps were buying it...
Skink Reviewed by Skink on . first dumpster dive this month I consider myself a Freegan, among other things. Freeganism is basically economic veganism, its a method of challenging capitalism by the efforts to consume and buy as little as possible. Its the idea of reuse, reduce and recycle to the extreme in order to improve the social, economic, animal and environmental state of the world. and this involves, among many many things, living off the 'waste' or byproducts of the system. which involves dumpster diving or urban foraging in order to obtain Rating: 5

When it gets tossed out it becomes public property.
I would never go redneck shopping.

I'm very much involved with Food Not Bombs over here in Norfolk and a lot of the food we get comes from fine people like yourself. We know what to look for when it comes to finding out what's good to eat and what's not, so don't say it's all that disgusting. We know exactly what time they take the trash out and what we should take. It's good to see someone else invloved with the same shit I am, when I thought I was the only one on here. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I've heard of Freegans before.
It's something I could never do, though. Foodwise, at least.
I know most of the time, the food's not bad when they throw it out, but once it gets in that dumpster where there's other rotting food...naw, I couldn't do it.
I am thinking about dumpster diving for clothes though.
And my best friend's older sister used to go diving all the time, that's how she would have Christmas presents for everyone.

I only grab food that is prepackaged and has not been opened or fruits and vegetables that can be washed, therefore reducing the risk of contamination. I have been diving for maybe two years and only once have I gotten sick from what I had eaten from a dive:
there used to be a little ceasars pizza place near my high school and after band practice I would head on over there and find whole pizzas still warm after they had closed. but once I found a ziplock bag full of green pepper slices. I LOVE GREEN PEPPERS! They LOOKED clean so I went ahead and ate them right there, without washing them. a few hours later, i was making camp in the bathroom with a serious case of the runs. i learned my lesson right away.
tonight i went to a vegan potluck dinner where I was served shepherds pie made from the potatoes we found. good stuff.

That is farked and mean. I'm fortunate now, I actually have the luxury of bitching about my weed being too strong. I can remember a day when I didn't have a pot to piss in basically. I have lived in my car with my dog, and made Ramen on my dashboard. And I was one of the lucky ones.
