first dumpster dive this month

Wow thats quite the score How many people do you go dumpster Diving with? and have you ever been caught dumpster diving? and if so what happened?

i go every thursday with a group of 2-5 people. i started diving/freegan lifestyle in high school and I have been 'caught' twice. dumpster diving is legal as long as there are no locks or 'no trespassing' signs around the dumpsters. first time i was caught, i was peering into a bin behind a bread store where I had usually been insanely successful and an employee walked out and asked me to leave. the second time was the same, but behing a thrift store with a few other people. if i am asked to leave, I do.

You seem like a wonderful person If there was more people like you the world would for ure be a better place, and I'm not just basing that statement from this one post, or thread, I'm basing it off all the posts of your you have wrote keep up the good work Biz

but why do you have to LABEL yourself? give yourself a name like "freegan". can't you just be you, and you do what you do? i feel it's an epidemic these days in America that people, mostly young people, have a compelling need to label themselves, but themselves in a box, and belong to a group. it just rubs me the wrong way; and that's my two pennies

i like to say "undefine your boundaries". isn't labeling/dividing the very thing that's causing devision and strife in our world? anyone, i'm done; many happy dives to ya.

good question. i label myself cause like you said, i am compelled to. i am many many many more things than 'freegan'. being 'freegan' is just a summation of a lifestyle choice and behavior. like being a jehova's witness. and also because otherwise i'd be called a bum.

last thing: i think buying used stuff, or finding it, or giving it away (folks, FREECYCLE kicks assssssssssssss!!!!) is great, and also a mindset that is understanding of the wonderful planet we abide in

this throw-away culture is really terrible. things not built to last anymore. people don't get things fixed, sometimes not even cleaned; just throw away and get a new one; it can't go on; our planet is too beautiful and wondrous for us to let ourselves fuck it up

Yep it makes me sick in this day and age when we need to recylce, reuse, and reduce the most. All we seem to be doing is making inferior products, that are more exspensive to fix then just throw out and buy a new one. We need better qaulity products on the market! Not the junk that is sold now a days!

I must confess I am one of those people who waste, I don't even recycle too much, But I'm starting to think I need to change that in a major way!

well i'm only nineteen year old girl. i'm still developing my identity and these labels give me a foundation. being yourself is hard when you havent exactly figured yourself out yet. labels are bittersweet

thats pretty cool, its amazing that you can find some sweet stuff in dumpsters,, like the ipod story, and the car and shit. thats cool/

gotta say that ipod story is pretty darn hard to believe; circuit city sells old stock on ebay, not best buy? that's the score (or the tall tale) of a lifetime


as for me: lots of my furniture (heck almost all of it) is used, much of it found by or in dumpsters,

on another level it kills me when folks go to target and buy some pressboard ikea-ripoff crap furniture, when they could go on craigslist and get a high quality solid wood piece for half the price. tomorrow i'm picking up a "kiosk" for $20 from a lady, solid wood, it will be my veg cab
