    what breed should I get?

I have a Jack Russell Terrier, and I would recommend anyone to get one. He's over 3 now (my avatar picture is a recent pic of him), so he's grown out of the puppy stage, and chilled out a good bit. He is the most loyal dog I have ever been around. They can be entergetic, but not to the point of where it gets annoying. He is very agile, and loves to play with toys. I NEVER had a problem with him chewing on things as a puppy. As long as he has a bone and a toy, he's completely satisfied. I love that he is so small because I can scoop him up and carry him around with me. They are a very smart breed, never had any problems with training him, and he was housebroken after a few weeks. Easily leash trained. He only barks when someone is at the door, and he doesn't snore. I would guess that he's about 8 lbs. (maybe not even that), but he was the runt. (I always get the runt). Not very expensive either. We bought him from a breeder and only paid $350.

    Good luck with your decision

Edit: Also very low maintenence...wash, clip nails, brush teeth. Short hair, so no shedding.

noone said a toy yorkie, theu are the cutest little dogs if you keep them puppy cut. I myself have a bearded dragon (my avatar) and I love her, she is quiet and loving and best of all potty trained.

    Jack Russell: dogs on springs
Beagles: bark too much and roam, sweet dogs
Bull terriors.....I love em....don't own one
Yorkies bite and are nervous and delicate DONT get a delicate dog.
Labs.....another breed I love.....and will tell you not to get
Toy poodle Smarter than shit....somewhat aloof, can bite
cockers no. just no. (nervous, genetic probs, hair is a HUGE hassle)

To add to this very good list- cockers are HUNTING dogs . I don't consider them pets.
Herding breeds are also working animals and need to work or they will give you trouble, and that includes shelties, which people think are apartment sized just becaus ethye are small.
I would never own a lab. They are nice to visit but I wouldn't want to live with one.
Most important, do your research on the origin of the breed, read up on breeders' websites becasue you will always find hints as to what the issues are that they try ot avoid with the breed.

    BOXERS RULE!!!
But don't get one unless you can devote a LOT of time to it. Boxers require constant attention, but if you treat them right, they are the smartest, most loving and 'human' dogs out there.

Boxers sulk like champs. OMG it's pathetic. You can't yell at them. They will go sit ini a corner and look at you over their shoulder with this expression like, Well fine be like that, Ima go sulk now. I love them!!! But prefer a boxer crossed with a bully to temper the excessive energy.

If I had a bigger back yard, I would have a couple of boxers. I just don't want to be unfair to a large dog by cooping it up in the house. We had a male and female boxer when I was younger, and they were great dogs. Very loving, and loyal.

Lol, they can do that too....and have the face for it.....the sad, SAD, look.

Stinky's point about the right pet for the right job is excellent.....the best advice I've heard so far.....well.....except mine of course.....
