Basically yeah it's just for odor. I'm not for sure about homemade filters but like the one I'm buying I'm pretty sure it's good for taking out hot air out also..although I really don't need it to do that because the room doesn't even reach over 80 degrees as it is. Max temps in my room is like 77-78 degrees I hope it doesn't make it even colder in the room when I get it lol.

I used two 8"-6" reducers, a 6" and 8" plug, 12 screws, chicken wire, door screen, some aluminum foil tape, and a crapload of zip ties. Only thing left now is to fill it with carbon that I ordered, and hook it up to my 250 watt attic fan, wooooeeee. Materials cost around $25, 27 pounds of carbon for $49. Rating: 5
