    Fan installation question

I was wondering if 2 120VAC 4" Fans from radioshack would work for air circulation for a grow cab I'm building? The fans are 22 watts 65CFM airflow, if that helps. Anyway, I was wondering how to make one fan move air faster than the other because I guess its bad to have them both running at the same speed? Any help is greatly appreciated. A picture of the fan is below.

    Fan installation question

Those fans will be worthless for the most part, unless its a tiny cabinet - how big is the space you are trying to ventilate and how many watts worth of lighting are you using?

    Fan installation question

I got 2 that push 72 cfm . 1 pushing hot air up top , 1 pulling cool air at bottom of a 36 cubic ft. 250 watt hps c-13 cabinet -n- mine work great . But I do have a cheap ass 20.00 4in. duct booster fan drawing heat off the hood n out of cabinet also .

    Fan installation question

Yea I think you might eventually want to look into a 4-6 inch inline duct fan, they run 24.00 at home depot.

Those small fans are good to blow the leaves around and cause thicker stems.

Or you can use them for smaller cabinet grows.

    Fan installation question

Controlling heat is a big problem with HID lights used in cabinets. If you are using an HID light, pay up and get an inline or squirrel cage fan. You can find a 6" Vortex fan for $150 - and it draws 450CFM. A 265 CFM squirrel cage fan can be found for slightly less.

But don't just look at CFM when shopping for fans. A 450 CFM inline fan is tremendously more powerful than a 450 CFM "duct booster" fan or muffin fan (The fan pictured above is a muffin fan). The physical mounting of the fan is also something to consider.

I believe I have 8 different fans in my arsenal right now. Inline, squirrel cage, duct booster, and a couple of muffin fans.... Keep your options open....you'll thank me when you turn on the HID light and the temp reaches 100F in your box.

    Fan installation question

I'm sorry I forgot to mention but I am using cfls so I won't have the heat issues that hps set ups cause. I plan on doing something similar to those popular rubbermaid bin grows. I'm going to grow four lowryders in there and pulling males when ever they show. Then I'll replace the males with a new seedlings so I can have a perpetual harvest. Since I don't have to change the lighting to 12/12 for flowering I can do this. Any thoughts would be great. Would two of those 4" fans I mentioned get the job done. Thanks in advance.:rastasmoke:

    Fan installation question

I am just gonna just tell you how I did..
    I have 2 x 120mm Antec fans with 3-way speed controller and I have 2 NL in a small cabinet.. It's ok.. That's what I can say..
I have 6 x 42w(150w output) CFL in flowering room.
    [ vent duct -> Intake fan(about 100cfm) -> Exhaust fan (about 100cfm) -> vent duct -> Air scrubber(additional 250cfm fan) ]
I worry about in summer.. I have no choice but buying small wall air conditioner and convert it to portable version..
I have no idea how I am gonna do~
    Good luck on yours~
