So yesterday evening, as it was dusk---I could still look out my front window though the dark was settling outside---I was walking through my living room, on my way from doing something to doing something else, and I happened to look out the window and saw a cop car hesitating in front of my house.

Now, I froze. There's no way they know about the plants!, I thought. I stared in disbelief at the car. I thought about running to the back room and closing my dresser grow cabinet, but the whole back room smelled like the plants so there was no use in doing that, plus I had two trays of freshly planted, germinated seeds sitting on top of the dresser, where the heck was I supposed to stick those in a hurry? And then when they came to the door, wouldn't it look suspicious if I had to come running out of the back room just to answer the door?

I stood in the middle of my living room and watched as the car crept on a bit, then backed into my car port. I kept thinking, How would they know about it? They couldn't! There's no way. They can't know!

Then the car pulled out again heading the way it came.

I swear, I aged five years. Give me a few more of those experiences, and I'll be ready to settle down as the crazy cat lady.
