AND OMFG!!!

Vince Raeder let his wife, Carlena, sign up for evening classes at the local community
college. Against the advice of his church elders, he signed a Head of Family waiver to allow
her to enroll (required since two of their three children were still under the age of 12).

Later that semester, Carlena enrolled in a week-long out-of-state seminar. Again Vince
signed a Head of Family waiver. The day she left for the seminar, Vince was feverish and
pale, but he told her to go anyway. She did. That night, seriously ill with one of the season's
most aggressive flu strains, Vince fed himself and the children some leftovers that Carlena
had forgotten to throw away.

Carlena returned from the seminar to find her husband and two of her children dead from
food poisoning. The youngest, who was still on canned baby food, was in critical condition
from hunger and dehydration. Carlena is now serving a five-year sentence for home
endangerment.
