    SEEDLINGS AND LIGHT

    Hi Experts!

I want to ask can i grow seedlings under a bright south facing window without additional lights?

The seedlings are to be transplanted outside and only want to grow inside for 3- 4 weeks.

    No you really can't sorry.
Just go get a 4' shop light from Home dePOT and a pair of cool white tubes for it.. total $25-30... keep seedlings right up against the tubes, almost touching them... like an inch and a half away.
    Good luck.

How do you harden off? If i place them outside for a few hours? I have a private patio, though i dosen't recive direct sunlight, very shaded.

How I harden off plants is by shaking them at the base of their stalk every morning. If you shake em a bit (5 seconds each) then they will grow thicker stalks. I also have a fan blowing on them. I like them to shake a bit but not have leaves being blown around. I also place mine outside for a couple hours here and there. I like them to get a little bit of good natural sunlight and they also get "hardened".

So a couple shakes everyday keeps their stalks growing thicker.
