My parents found out that I have been smoking, as they found about 1/8 of swag in my drawer.

My mom was more sad then anything.

I had a brother who died at birth, who would have been a big brother to me. My mom brought up how myself and my sister are her world - and she doesn't want anything bad to happen to me, like my big brother. Basically she cares about me a lot and is very worried. I have about a 2.5 GPA, and my mom worries about me making it in life and what not.

Like you guys, I realize her severe misconception of Marijuana, but I do realize that I don't want to become a hardcore stoner who smokes every day. How do I get the message through to my mom that there is nothing wrong with the casual bud smoker maybe once a week or so as recreational use, or maybe even just make her feel better?

For sure :thumbsup: Just level with her. Tell her you don't use it everyday, stress the occasional use. Maybe even work a little harder at school so that she knows you can handle both?

Dude, I was in a very similar situation in high school. My parents discovered that I use cannabis regularly and were pretty disappointed by it. You wanna know how I eventually got them to shut the fuck up? WELL!? DO YOU?!

I graduated highscool with a 3.5+ GPA and went on to a challenging private university. Considering that neither of my nuclear parents have a college degree, they couldn't say shit about me being a 'lazy stoner'. And I smoke EVERYDAY, at least once.

The fact that you have a low GPA and show no sings of being successfull is a legitimate reason for concern for your mother. I realize that she probably has a warped perception of MJ and that is unfortunate. But it doesn't help the situation when you do nothing to proactively change her views on pot. Do us all a favor:

Get a job, join a club, fucking study for all I care. But do SOMETHING positive to show her that you can be productive AND be high as fuck all day. If you can't do that, then hang yourself with a piano string because your slacking is giving us all a bad name.

Hey first off how old are you? Me myself I think if youâ??re under 18 you shouldnâ??t smoke..... Second if you are under 18 listen to your mom/dad/ parents. If you truly love your mom and dad you would respectfully talk to your parents explain if it helps, how it helps, explain why you smoke. If you take this sit. and talk to them as a mature adult even if they tell you not to smoke they will prob. respect you more in the long run and they will see that you guys can talk as mature adults...... but most of all if your 18 then do what you want but be respectful about it theirs no need to be a dick about the sit.. Talking is the best thing.... because worse comes to worse they can call the cops on you and have you arrested

Very true. Actions speak louder than words. Continue to smoke if you want, keep it secret from your parents, and get your shit together. Get a job and get As. I realize how meaningless high school grades are, but trust me, it will help. The best way to prove you're not a lazy stoner is to not to be one.

Other than that, sit her down and talk to her. Ask her why she doesn't want you to smoke, and refute every negative thing she says. May want to read up on weed a bit. Erowid is a nice source. Bring up the positives as well.

Damn Just1n, that's too harsh. Seriously. He obviously cares about this issue or he wouldn't have started the thread to begin with. He was being completely open and honest and asking for help. You can get your point across in a positive manner, and doing so would mean he would be more apt to actually follow your advice.

My parents found out a week ago. They were disappointed and I told them I wouldnt do it again...I smoked a blunt this morning

Im gonna keep it a secret from them...theres nothing I could do to change there minds and Im 1 year away from turning 18 and thats when I move out (I have $15,000 saved up and a good job)
