Sure. You probably still want to clean it somewhat, just so it doesn't stink everywhere it goes. I had to do this recently with a pipe I bought during spring break, and it was mildly dirty and I didn't have any problems. Granted, that was entirely in the U.S. and it sounds like your coming from out of the country, but it would still probably be fine.
