T-mobile is a different phone so you need a T-Mobile phone with a t-mobile card...
My Bro found a T-mobile phone and stuck his T-M card in it and it just worked...

You can try to clean the contacts on the old phone... use rubbing alcohol and a clean pencil eraser... dont soak it,,,just dip the eraser and clean the contact in the phone...

Yeah... The best erasers to use are those "ink" erasers (you know the ones... they are dark gray on one side, white on the other)... They have a little bit of fine abrasive in them, that makes them awesome for cleaning/polishing metal. I use them all the time to prep surfaces for soldering. You don't even need alcohol with them, just use them dry.
