I have cable internet and am using a wireless router. When I plug the internet directly into my comp it is fast as lightning, but when I use the router, which is only about 15 feet away with a wall between it and my comp, the internet runs slower than dial up sometimes.

It rarely effects download times though and only seems to give me problems when trying to load a page that isn't in my cookies, or after I clean up my cookies a cache folders. I'm having trouble understanding why it rarely seems to effect downloads, but god forbid I try and visit a new site or a link from this site.

I usually have to refresh the browser a few times and the entire process takes about a minute for one page...

I really don't have many other options for where to place the router, it is currently on our coffee table. Is it as simple as moving it. If so I have no idea where to. It is currently right in the middle of either of the two places I use my comp.

Does anyone know what the hell is the matter with it and what I might be able to do in order for it to work as it should?
