Im gonna take a guess and say that PH might be a problem... As well that soil looks like it has Zero Perlite in it. The roots need some air to breath..

How often do you have to water those plants?

As well do you know what type of soil that is? Or the PH of the water you are feeding them wiith? As well the PH of the soil...

I woudl start with those questions then some peeps will be better able to help ya!!

Slight tip burn could be the first sign of over fert- what are you feeding them?
As KD says, that soil needs to be lightened or you're going to have issues down the road- it already looks too wet to me.
Other than those 2 things I like the looks of those plants- the new growth is good.
Tell your 'friend' keep it up!

And while that plant is still young I'd pinch off that top clump of leaves leaving the bottom 3 nodes, if it were mine.

soil pH is too low, flush and adjust to 6.8
edit: shit, i forgot you have no perlite, flushing is going to be a major pain in the tucas.
