    I had to quit...

Hey guys, haven't been around these parts in a little while. thought I'd drop in and say hello.

Anyways I ve been smoking pretty regularly, mostly weekends sometimes everyday since about 14 (jus 18 now) recently past few months goin everday. I decided my tolerance was too far up and decided to quit for a month.

Two weeks in I come home a little faded, take a shower, go to bed. My dad comes in my room, "your not high are you". I say no , he says I was being quite and he was gonna test me just in case. night of test I drink 80-90 oz water and pass the test.

They say just to be safe there gonna test me on a regular basis randomly.
Bullshit. So I guess I am done. Last time I smoked was Sunday march 4th, three weeks sober this sunday.

I must say its a good thing to sober up for a while, it made me realize how much I really love weed and how much that love affair needed a break. There is such thing as weed addiction, its not a physical craving, I just love smoking herb, no other way to describe it.

I love the way it makes me feel at the end of the day, during concerts, surfing, just about anything, with food.
its been a gradual proces, but over the years its become a part of me.

The bad thing is I have been drinking on the weeknds. I never really drank before at all, and after two weekends I am over it. Yet, I still want to do it and I crave to be intoxicated by alcohol.

    This scares me.

I feel an alcohol addiction coming on and I am worried, I want it, even now.
I used to hate it and be against it (still am, I guess that makes me a hipocrit)

And even after I came back from my break I planned on not smoking nearly as much (ditching bongs all together. i love pipes joints and blunts , oldschool 4 life ; )} and I did this all on my own, quitting cold turkey on my own.

And now my parents are gonna turn me into an alchoholic. I just want to be able to smoke herb every now and then, thats it. But my dad insisits "I know your gonna drink but don't smoke weed, its for hippies, liberals, and African-americans (you know what he said)".

I hate it. Why can't he understand how dangerous alcohol is and how good I am at managing my weed habit. I don't know if I can manage alcohol, ive never felt like ive needed a substance before to cope, even "smoking a bowl to calm down or go to bed " wasnt' and option. I would stop myself and say , "weed is not your escape" and literally force myself not to smoke if I ever felt "compelled" to do it.

This is fucked. Im worried guys.

if your really worried go see someone. Its no big deal to do it either. Rather that than living your life on the bottle.

Dude I don't even want to get into it about my dad. Weed is so much more safe than alcohol, not a little, a lot, I just wish he could get that through is right wing, conservative, biggoting skull.

    burn. haha.

You're 18 now correct? My advice to you would be to finish up highschool if you haven't already, then get the hell out of his house and start living your own life. You aren't going to be able to change your dad's attitudes towards marijuana over night, if ever. Get your head straight, make a game plan, and get ready for the joys of adulthood. Sure, it can be tough, but take it from me, once you're out of his house and able to control all aspects of your life without him looking over your shoulder, you will be a hell of a lot happier.

Ditto...get on with your own life and become self sufficient. You have your whole life to sit around and smoke weed and you wont even remember what its like to care about what your parents think. One day after your FIRST divorce, you'll be sitting there smoking weed thinking about all kinds of shit, and the one thing you wont be thinking about is, oh shit, im not allowed to smoke weed.

Alcoholism is a matter of are you weak or are you strong? Do what you have to do man. If you have to drive that night or take tests the next day or etc......dont be stupid. Again you have your whole life to drink when your old. Get your finances established. Then when your on your own, this shit wont even be an issue. Unless your like me and drink until you piss your pants every night.

Believe it or not you have a transparent plan, not yet hemp strength...ha, when I was 18, in the year 1989, I had been working part-time($6.35hr) for a year; then 10 months after H.S. Graduation (during this time I got another job, full time, no !$#$ car either) me and a high school friend set out for Europe. best $#@#@ thing I ever did. I saw such surreal events, people and places. I later found work in London as a dishwasher, later working my up into the kitchen. 15 years later I am a local chef. Your father is just being a father, good intentions I hope, it's just not everyone is a naturally good teacher, a must. Booze killed 3 people in my life, not to mention my grandparents and aunts & uncles who 'used' booze the same way you & I and many others, escapism. Not very many people die from herb (directly). Taking a 4 weeks off is great for your tolerance, & your sense of taste for high quality bud is rewarded as well as saving a few C notes. Keep your head up above the grey haze of mediocrity. Chow, lakrzy.
