    Soil Question!!!!!

You'd be better off starting seedlings and new clones in a stndard 4 inch or 2 pint nursery pot, grow under tube flo's with the growtip 1/4 inch under the lamps, then transplant to 1 gal and put under the hid's.You can start under big lights, but 1 gal is large for a starting container. The roots tend to grow along the sides and sometimes out the drainholes leaving a big empty space in the middle, bad utilization of available soil.Try starting in the smaller containers and transplant at least twice before you flower, letting the rootball fill each container before transp[lanting up is the way to go

1 gallon soil per foot of plant
Start small... I like nuresery 6packs, or 3 inch pots if it's clones or a seed started in a rapidrooter, generally transplanting at ~5 nodes when you start feeding, that transplant can be into a 1L pot.
Then when the plant is about 10 inches tall, take it up to a 2-3 gallon pot... you can flower it then or veg some more; if you veg more, you will want to consider finishing it in a 5 gallon pail or larger.

    Soil Question!!!!!

One thing I've learned is to let the plant tell you when it needs water or a transplant. Its important to learn the wet and dry weights of the containers you'll be using,100% saturation with runoff is very important, and just because you get some runoff doesn't mean you've watered properly.I find with my medium under my conditions I find myself normally watering every 4th or 5 th day when a plant starts out in a container. After she grows a bit,she demands water every third day, then every other. When I get to a point where I find myself having to water every other day I know the rootball has filled the container and its time to step up a size.Ideally a 25% increase is all thats needed. Then the process starts again I'm watering every fourth day then every third..This way the plant is telling you when it needs to be hydrated and when it needs a transplant. Its imperative to get 100% saturation with runoff each time you water, and to have the plant in the proper sized container for its size. You can see why starting in a 3 gallon or even 1 gallon pot would not be good for this procedure

O are you growing hydro?I've never heard of that wet foam stuff. If its to start seedlings rockwool and the like are for cuttings, seedlings are best started in a 4 inch pot in the medium you'll be using.Sorry if I'm misunderstaning whats happening lol I do that occasionally but I mean well

I think that wet foam shit is only for flower arranging if it's what I am thinking of- I have NEVER heard of anyone using it- experiment if you want with the stuff, I'm always interested in seeing new shit, but why bother reinventing the wheel?
