I believe that the brown stuff you are getting on the bottom of the net pots is from your water temp being to high. Ideal water temp is between 65-72. As far as how long you should veg, it's up to how much light you are using and the penitration that the light gives you. There is alot of info on this site and everybody here is very helpful...I am sure you will find what you need. Peace
