outdoor risks

Hey all. I want to grow outdoors this summer but in the past I have never established past seedlings. I am trying to think of the risks that the plants would face and how to avoid them. Where I live there are alot of deer and I hear they can ravage a plant. How could I avoid this problem and what others should I be aware of....like mold and pests?

Use the search. I use google and type things like "Deer repelent" and such.

Use Deer Off repellent, repels deer, rabbit, squirrel, and it lasts for awhile.

Put down stakes in the ground, have fishing line at different heights around each plant.

If you have some glass, like from a coffee table type glass, place it around your plant to stop underground enemies from surfacing near.

Where to begin!
First you get the problems all farmers face:
Insects
Deer
Bunnies
Woodchucks
Other puntable furry things
Drought
Poor soil
Fungus
Then you get all sorts of other fun stuff only cannagrowers have to worry about
Hunters
Cops
Cops in helicopters
Do-gooders
Birdwatchers
Pot scavengers (my favorite, and one of the few times in life I would actually consider beating someone senseless with their own severed arm)

To lessen the risks,
-Scout well and that includes digging test holes and taking soil samples- test them for pH and also check what the soil is made of.
-Keep your mouth shut
-Make the site hard to find or undesirable- pricker bushes are your friend
-Check that access is not going to be suspicious; if you have to park a vehicle, it should not seem out of place. A recreation area where people walk their dogs is a good place to park. Take your dog or borrow someone's. Make it look like you have a reason to be there other than being a sketchy potheaded lil criminal with a shovel and a dream!

Hey on a side note, for shroom hunting and Johnny weed seed operations, a metal detector in hand always does the trick. Kills a couple birds with one stone, set to coin and jewelry.

Bring binoculars and a bird identification book with you. Scout out the area and make sure nobody is there with the binoculars then check out the area, then bring in the shovel, nutes, ferts, ect. Don't dress like a stoner either.

hashman! It would be even funnier if you went to the thrift shop and bought yourself a bunch of tweedy shit... jodphurs and wellies are even better!!! And the tweed jacket MUST have suede patches on the elbows!!! hee hee! Birdwatchers are so funny and fussily dressed sometimes!!!

Stinky - - - thanks for covering all those bases. I know I'll be able to turn up some ph testing things in my garage, and I've allready scouted several low key places I can hike to without suspicion.

is it not true that just taking some hair from your head and like tying it to the plant or somewhere near it that the deer can smell it and be scared away from the site? I also have this problem as I scouted out a good place to plant today as I am about to as soon as these seeds germinate. I saw a bunch of deer droppings around the site so deer are definately going to be a problem.
