    The Grateful Dead

How many of you guys dig the Dead, i personally love them. there music flows so purely, and is insane to listen to when high. I would suggest giving them a chance, they jam pretty hard. If you want some good live shows go on archive.org and search up anything from 71-74 and you will be pleased(sometimes the sound quality is shitty on there, but thats cuz there all bootleg, but sometimes you can find a great sounding soundboard tape) My favorite year is 73, listen to an Eyes of the World when your stoned from late 73 or 74, you will be please, trust me. If you wanna good start for studio material, good albums to pick up/download, would be American Beauty or Europe 72', or Skull and Roses, or From the mars hotel.
Fellow dead heads, back me up on this.

    Peace

I always thought their live sound is so much better. You feel the beauty and passion, the strumming of Bob Weir, the dreamy guitar Jerry plays. Their studio albums....eh........they're just not made for a produced sound, they're the ultimate free-flow band.

The Dead is such an amzing and influential band that I think this thread should stay in the lounge, even though there are countless threads about them already. It's only a matter of time before it's moved though...

My favorite dead song is "cumberland blues". It is about the life of poor miners in Kentucky and that is where my roots are from. I think the dead truly captured the essence of the american people through their music.

I recently got hooked on them again. I used to like them and then I heard too much of it so I stopped listening to the radio. But my friend played their newest CD (cant remember the name by the life of me) and I found it excellent.
