WTF? honestly... they are made purposely to shoot people with.. they're designed to hurt, so there's motive to not get shot... but also designed to not pose serious injury or death... unless someone's stupid enough to go paintballing without a mask (any paintball courses require them btw) or shoot themselves in the mouth with a paintball, there's no real danger...
