When ordering certain things, do they actually CHECK if you're a minor?

I don't exactly know if you will be carded at the door,,,I think the UPS or Fedex person will just accept a sgniture... Could be cause I am old but,,,I was never asked... I think the exact policy will be noted on the site of purchase,,,some times it just reads a signature is required...
