Confrontation with Iran

Are we citizens underestimating the possible fallouts from the coming showdown with Iran and its nuclear program. The 6 "powers" are inceasing sactions on Iran by freezing the counties finances, closing all boards to any weapons trade, even freezing all finances of key individuals within the Iranian Gov. I think if any country, not need be a superpower, decides to stand with Iran and rally for support of Irans nuclear program...all hell will break loose.
China side with Iran?...well, no. China is too economically dependent on us for the time being. What do you think of the situation?

I stopped caring once I realized bush has a plan, and is going to stick to it regardless of what congress and the American people want..not an absolute fucking thing we can do. I could care less. GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST...I'm 17, and I don't want to be drafted by my 18th birthday. Bush got what he wanted; absolute fucking chaos. And now, my generation is going to pay for what he's fucked. Fuck him. This is bullshit, and I'm sick and fucking tired of it. We should have left the instant they had a government. Instead we've created a civil war that young American men are right in the middle of...thousands of miles away from their families, children...It's stupid. They should be here, not in Iraq.

They call for the destruction of Israel.....recruit a Basij suicide army that is 17% of their total population, they support Hezbollah and Chechen rebels, and now they want nuclear technology. We got one of two choices.....either take out the problem areas (nuclear facilities) now or later.

Imagine if they do develope the bomb. The USS Ronald Reagan holds over 5,500 sailors not to mention the support ships that escort her. I'd lay odds that if they had the bomb this would be a target considering that we frequently have these groups in the Persian Gulf.

Imagine if a bomb were to be launched towards Israel.....the retaliation that would follow would destroy the entire region.

During WW2 we let the left in the U.S. keep us out of the war until it was to the point were the only foothold left in Europe was Great Britain. Real nice, how many of our men died at Normandy beach trying to gain a foothold on the mainland?

I'm all for strategic bombing and if we see the 11 mill. suicide squad moving towards Iraq.......M.O.A.B. their asses. :thumbsup:

Everything I've read in the last two weeks has said that the threat of these new, much stronger sanctions is what has, at long last, gotten Iran's attention and is starting to urge them in the direction of compliance with the UN security council and the IAEA conditions. I don't see us as only having two choices, and I think we need to stick with the sanctioning-followed-by-inspection approach and see if it achieves the desired result unless we want to commit literal and political suicide, both for ourselves and Israel.

I do not think that the "left" was not responsible for keeping the U.S. out of WWII. Most Americans did not want another world war, and right-wing isolationists were actually more worried about Trotskyism.

Today there are also the far-right lunatic fringe people, like pisshead, who are extremely concerned about illegal Mexican workers, but have no recognition of the threat Islamic totalitarianism.

There are way too many Bombs away people in our leadership to avoid a confrontation unless public outcry heads it off. With the right wing Muslim hating zealots screaming for extinction of all muslim radicals, and the Bush agenda of being the man in charge of starting Armegeddon, it is a dismal future we face without some intervention of either Divinity or common sense. That's true - but it doesn't hurt to understand what the idiots are doing in our midst. It's becoming increasingly clear that it's the lunatic-fringe groups like the John Birch Society, now that the Cold War is over, that are influencing the thinking of people like pisshead. I looked over their website yesterday, and confirmed it. They are far-right as they used to be - but now have a legalize-marijuana stance as well. They are also big on the 9/11 conspiracy theories. This is the same group that called Eisenhower a communist.

The old saying about politics making strange bedfellows is still relevant.

I think the fact that Russia and China are backing the new sanctions against Iran say's a lot. By denying the holocaust, sponsering anti-Jew cartoon contests, and repeatedly condeming Isreal, Ahmadinejad is begining to look like a modern day Hitler. Whether or not he has the military might or political strength to actually turn his rhetoric into reality doesn't matter. Nobody, except for some other radical Islamists, want to cozy up with with someone who essentially idolizes Hitler and the Nazis.

Fortunately Ahmadinejad already has a lot of opposition within his own country. The more he alienates the rest of the world the more tenuous his position is going to become. I know a lot of Iranians(typically ethnically Assyrian and usually Christian) and they are very intelligent people. The people or Iran are not uneducated poppy farmers like the Afghanis. Muslim or not, I really can't believe they will accept being put into a position where the whole world is against them. At least I hope they won't.

Oh come-on, a couple a hundred extremests shoot AKs in the air and yell death to America and you want to unleash hell-fire on them, Hmmmm, did you ever wonder where all those projectiles came down at, it seems like at least a couple of them should have got hit in the head from them. I think it would leave a pretty good hole in your head, but back to reality. It's our foriegn policy that has created these radicals, that and absolute envy for our way of life. Some of you have mentioned a suicide army of Iran, with its numbers over 10million?! If this is true, the amount of damage capable by such an army is massive. I bet a suicide army of that size could come close to marching all the way to israel...israel would use tatical nukes to stop any major advance. Imagine the amount of death that can be brought about with 10million crazies running/driving with rigged explosives on there chests or in their cars. You hear stories often in the news about a hundred or so people being killed in a car bombing...now have 1000s of car bombs just pouring into Bahgdad. We would surely find out just how good our military is. If they could repel a unified force of that many suicide bombers, well it says alot for technology.

I am a firm believer in believe nothing of what you here and only a little of what you see (TV), so that pretty much limits me to a narrow view of muslims. Yeah I've seen them screaming death to America and firing their AKs in the air, burning American and isreali flags, etc. But again, they are 10,000 miles away. I'll not take a vacation to the middle east any time soon, and I don't fly that often, so I don't feel threatened by them. Hey there are a billion+ chinese that don't really care for us, most of latin America would just as soon see us go up in smoke, we've even alienated Europe against us, Russia could go either way, Most of the rest of the world sees us as a big bully and would like to see us taken down a few notches, whats to be afraid of, about 95% of the rest of the world wants us gone and would probably help anyone that tried to do it. Live for today and hope for tomorrow, My grandkids are probably going to get a raw deal.

Technology...its the only possible solution to America's fall. We must develop and horde technology(Iâ??m glad the Japanese are our allies). We need to develop superior machines of war...like automated huge, mobile war machines with massive laser banks capable of ravaging the earth within their range as they roll around on artificial diamond tracks...no missles could damage them...lasers would just shoot down incoming targets. Its just who ever takes the effort and develops the technology to create such machines first...the rulers of the world will rule through the complete monopolization of technology.

Yes, Ahmadinejad does have opposition from his own country, but he does allow them to protest and has actually was pleased that college students were expressing their minds in that way.

Does this remind you of someone else? secret prisons outside of oversight by congressional leadership. How long untill we have the same thing on the streets of America? we certainly can not claim the high ground in this area any more. Our own Government condones these actions for "terrorists", how soon before activists, writers, and journalists face similar consequences. Orwellian reality is nearer than you think!

If Bush decides to attack Iran, it will destroy the fabric of this country.

Funneling all resources into another war effort with one already going on Iraq will be devastating. Bush has halted the progress of this country diverting resources away from serious domestic issues, healthcare, education, and stagnating process in banning stem cell research. Iran won't develop a real working nuke for at least another 10 years. It's reasonable to exhaust diplomatic channels before taking any action. But with Bush I'm afraid he's playing russian roulette with the US's future.

Well, I dislike Bush about as much as I dislike Ahmadinejad but come on. I mean, yeah Bush is a fucking clown who has no business being President and has seriously fucked things up, but comparing him to Hitler?? That gives Bush way too much credit than he deserves. We're talking evil genius vs bungling idiot.

And as far as Bush's grandfather funding Hitler is concerned, I have read my history. His grandfather was the director of a company that, through it's investments, helped the Nazi's rise to power. It was a busniess decision, albeit a bad one, plain and simple. And it was before the world really knew what Hitler was doing. Not to mention the fact that what Bush's granftaher did counts about as much as what my grandfather did. It's ancient history and neither of us had a say in it.

Don't get me wrong, you're right, Bush is one of the Bad Guys. But so is Ahmadinejad, and far worse.Don't be such a fool that you believe that just because Bush doesn't like him means he's good.

Half that would have made social security and medicare secure well into the next century, rebuilt all our schools, paid to really secure our ports, borders, and nuclear and chemical sites, financed single payer medical into the next century and had enough left over to buy you and I a new car, maybe a Yugo!
