a couple questions from the new generation of smoking...

okay so now i got some more weed. Some jack herer and some good chronic. I also got a little pipe. Now this is like my 3rd time getting high and its not that crazy. I dont feel like 1g for 15 dollars makes u feel all that great. Its really like a lilttle buzz i get, with a good relaxed feeling but thats it. Now everyone at my school tells me the stuff iam smoking is crazy and everytime they smoke with me they go crazy. Is it because it hasn't broken in on me?

-another question when u put weed in the little pipe. How do u do it? Do i just put the nut in there or chop into little pieces and fill it to the top?

-how come the flame always goes out? i constantly have to suck in and flame it once more. A couple puffs and repeat...

by the way for those who had jack herer does it smell strong? because the stuff i got doesnt smell that strong but it has a good scent.

oh and once i bought this bud and it smelled so strong. i would touch the bag with my fingers and the scent would stay there for a long time. Anybody have any ideas what strain it could have been...

lol, ok mate, here's the deal. Smoking weed in a pipe is not like smoking tobacco in a pipe.

You chop the bud up quite finely first. Then fill the bowl. Then toke on it an hold the lighter on it until it's smoking nicely. don't burn it too much, because the smoke will come through too hot. Just burn it lightly as you toke.

make sure you take the smoke into your lungs properly too.

if you don't inhale, you don't get high :D

by the way the flame is suppost to go out, honistly your suppost to light it every time but if it lasts a few hits its all good :D

I think that might be your problem. When I first started smoking I used to do this thing where I would keep a lot of the smoke in my mouth unconsciously. It was only until a friend suggested to breathe in after the hit (like you would a cigarette) that I really started to get high.

to inhale should i inhale the smoke, hold it for a couple seconds, and then let it out my nose...?

Inhale, take another inhale of regular air just to make sure it all goes in your lungs, wait several seconds, then breathe it out. Some people say if you breathe it out of your nose you will smell it for the rest of the night but I don't seem to get that.

iam going to try that. the friend i smoked today held it in for so long when he breathed out barely any smoke came out. And everytime i would inhale and puff a huge cloud he would get all mad and kept on telling me i was wasting the smoke. So iama blaze a lil' jack herrer right now and hopefully it works! isnt that bad for your lungs?

The longer you hold it in the more THC will be absorbed but at the same time you hurt your body more. It's a trade off that you will have to find a balance between.

thats not true actually, 99% of the thc is absorbed instantly, so by the time your done sucking in from the pipe you can exhale. i like to hold it for a bit anyways, so its longer and more relaxing

Smoking in general is bad for your lungs, there are healthier alternatives such as eating or vaporizing.

Make sure you inhale correctly, and you'll obtain the high. Goodluck!

Thats nice to know, but do you have any proof of it? Not that I want to argue, I just like to stay healthy and that would be a good rumor to clear up for myself.

Can never be too sure about peoples attitudes on the internet, although from my short experience here I can see that the whole of the community has gone past the constant "flaming" that most forums evolve into, which is really nice to see :D

unfortunately i cant find that exact article, ill keep looking but until maybe someone else can clear this up (if theyre positive of the answer)

I never knew that thc gets absorbed instantly either? I thought like you can hold it for like 30secs, but 80% of it is absorbed after a couple of secs.? Could be absolutly wrong though just heard that :thumbsup:

well, i wouldnt say instantly, but pretty darn close, but once again no proof, just a hunch:thumbsup: and heresay

oh that extra little hole where u put your finger? Well no it only has 2 the bowl and the piece where u put your mouth. It's made out of rock, its little, easy to hide, and it does its job.

asked my biology professor and its true. holding it in longer wont get you any higher really.

just tars your lungs up more. its futile.

hey dude if you break it up a lot, youll get better hits and itll smoke quicker.

i like to break my bowls up into like 3 or 4 little eighth inch nugs and drop them in my bowl and smoke them that way. i hate breaking my bowls up into shake.

but its all about personal preference there.

Just make sure to inhale. I usually break my weed up into little BB size chunks if im using a pipe. With bongs i leave them a little bigger.

I dunno ive heard holding your hit 4 seconds absorbs 80% of the THC.
The whole thing about the THC getting absorbed instantly is, wouldnt that make hotboxing pretty much useless. I think the highest ive ever been was when me and 3 friends hotboxed my moms car and i always kinda thought it was because of the hotbox.
Anyway it would be cool if someone could find some reliable source on how THC is absorbed into the lungs and how quickly. I'm to lazy to look myself.

All holding a hit in for 25-50 seconds will do is deprive you of oxygen, creating a placebo effect of getting higher.

A study done by a group of doctors in Canada at Dalhousie University, concluded that more than 90% of the THC is absorbed into the lungs within the first seconds of inhalation. Another study confirms this, but they put their number at 95% absorption. The 5-15% of THC that isn't absorbed is due to THC loss in trace smoke, or smoke that never enters the lungs.

If this truly is Jack Herer, you should be laughing your ass off and be high as hell coz that strain is BOMB. Are there a lot of white crystals?

Since the pipe doesn't have a carb, be careful not to burn your throat too badly. It'll take a while to calm down if you do and taking hits while your throat got all burnt will hurt a bit, but still doable.

Break it up into smaller pieces and pack it up to the top. THe flame will go out quickly but it's good cause the weed won't idly burn. Just relight it when you take a hit or when needed, and inhale deeply.

Holding it 3 - 5 seconds will do the work, so don't worry if you see a lot of smoke.

if its your first couple of times some middys should be able to take you on journey , not some buzzed relaxed bullshit smoke blunt or use a bong, they're are easier to use pipes require a certain amount of skill to operate

I cant see how using a pipe could be harder than using a bong or even a blunt. Its pretty straightforward, break your shit up, put it in hole, smooooooke. :)

All of the THC that you'll actually be able to absorb is you in by 4-5 seconds MAX. There isn't any point in holding it longer.

I've seen a video of Howard Marks smoking with some rastafari's in Jamaica and when they would hit it, literally as they were inhaling it they would exhale through their nose. It ends up looking really cool, I guess they knew that the smoke didn't need to be held in for long periods of time.

It also pisses me off when people say others are wasting smoke when exhaling after 3-5 seconds. They really don't know what they are talking about but think they do which makes it even worse.

You need to hit a good size bong a few times.

As a matter of fact, I urge you to not even hold the flame over the bowl - hold it to the side of the bowl, and let your inhalation bend the flame to ignite just a little "pie slice" of the weed. This will enable you to have nice green hits over and over again (particularly courteous if you're passing it around). When I smoke, I pull in lightly so the flame doesn't even actually touch the weed; the flame bends close, and then the heat from it ignites just a small bit. I hold it there for a second until I know I'm getting smoke.

You can always tell a n00b because he'll scorch and blacken the whole top of the bowl when lighting up. This drives me, and anyone who really respects cannabis, utterly fucking nuts.

aha! A real pro! It's so much easier to control your hits toking like that. You can get really good at doing that, and be able to share exact half bowls with people by burning it in half carefully. Good advice also mate :thumbsup:
