the past two days have been absolutely gorgeous, it rained this morning but the temperature was perfect. pants/tshirt weather, my fav.
but one thing is really bugging me..
i cant ollie while moving!!
you have no idea how frustrated i am. the weather is so nice and i want to start skating again, but i cant do anything aside from carpet skating (flip tricks on the safety of my carpet lol :( )
more and more practice i guess...

What part of the ollie are you having trouble on, if you can do it while on the carpet, but not while moving, guts may be the only problem.
can u ollie standing still on wheels?
you know i think that might be it. i think i just kinda panic (subconciously of course :thumbsup: )
my board always seems to like slide out from under me when im moving, almost like a halfassed kickflip. i think once i can ollie, the other stuff which im not terrible at will kinda fall into place with practice.
:edit: yea i can ollie while standing still alot easier, esp when the board goes nowhere like on carpet or grass. cement still but theres a better chance ill slide out.
yeah i have been skating 2 times a day everyday for the past 2 weeks since the weather has started getting better. Sadly my board cracked today so it will probably gunna last me for one for sesh.
ever since i tore all the ligaments and muscle in my left foot from doing a 180 down some stairs, i gave skating up.
i miss it though, but i dont miss hurting myself.
i landed a varial kickflip in primo yesterday.. but i couldnt hold it and bailed, put my hands out to break my fall, now i have this huge bruise on the ball joint of my index finger.
im gonna keep at this til i get it. inline looks fun too but looks easier

im pretty sure you can ollie while moving, you just are afraid so you dont keep your foot on, keep at it and the weather is getting better round here to and the skatin is startin up agian, cant wait... haha.. just member, if you fall fuck it, doesnt hurt that bad.. haha.. oh and good luck with that bruise on your hand. those things hurt..

i never accomplished anything in terms of skating until i actually just went for it without thinking about how much it would hurt if i macked it hard. you gotta let that feeling go and just think about how rad it is when you land the trick.
just picture yourself doing it in your minds eye and do it! it sounds totally cognitive and stupid but trust me, if you can picture it and you go for it, it will happen sooner or later.

I used to skate, prolly gonna start again because of the weather and my board is just laying there..
I still can't do anything but ollie and barely a kickflip without landing it. It takes alot of practice man, i've been trying to learn an ollie for like a year or so, especially when you dont have a friend that is really good at skating and can teach you how to do all the stuff.
my suggestion is get to know skaters friends :D
Lets work on this until we can get you up in the air.

Is your foot too far back on the tail?
Are you poping with the ball of your foot or stomping?
thanks for all the encouragement guys, its really helping, i think what i need to do is go face plant a few times to get used to the fact that to get better st skating im going to fall.
and skrappie, what im doing is having the ball of my back foot on the tail, and my front foot in the middle of my board. i might have my front foot too far off the board, hanging 10 if you get what i mean, and the board naturally spins. ill have to work on that
i dont really get your second question tho, i kinda do both i guess
its hard to know what i do when im doing it moving, cuz i cant really take too long or ill come to a stop.
i ride goofy too... seems i do everything backwards, i play inverted on xbox too

im getting more ballsy, i can kinda ollie while moving now... but landings are always sketchy i jsut gotta work on that, hopefully going to the skate park tomorrow so ill try there.

if you felt yourself gettin up in the air then im sure you did, it seems you know the method but jsut incase, you just slap the tail down almost like quickly and at the same time slide the front foot towards the nose... jst keep at it and you will get it, then youll find other tricks come really easy...
yeah man it is now the perfect weather to skate in, actually i skated today and it felt great since i haven't in a week or so. BUt for you situation man, yeah dont give up and it seem like to me that your not staying over the board enough, when you land..dont get scared but land w/ both feet on that board if its sideways or not

just wait til you start ollieing down curbs. its scary at first but its fun when you get it.
then you can move to two stairs and so on.
once your good at ollies try ollieing up curbs to get the feel of getting more height. its like an exercise. it worked for me at least.
yea thats what i want to try and do, i think when i can at least ollie and get some decent height to it, i can start grinding rails and makin gaps and stuff, im really looking forward to this summer.

Bro, any day is a good day to learn to skate. . . lol. How old are you? I am sure you will get it eventually, just don't look down while doing anything. Maybe a glance or two to check your footing but focus on the landing and the rest will come to you when the time is right. . .

Practice your landings, that's the hardest part about skating. . . Just do some bomb drops off of shit. . . the practice them with a running start. . . it will click and you will get going. . .
i cant pressure flip either, i never will.
i dont like how that trick looks anyway.
im 17 by the way, senior. i skated back in like 7th and 8th grade but not since then so i kinda forgot everything. even tho i wasnt really good back then either.

With the Ollie you just gota keep practicing...Try ollieing a deck or something while moving. One thing I learned from skating is u gotta just commit to landing the trick and not be scared about falling or else you will.

You need to leave your carpet and hit the pavement my stoney friend. Doing stuff on the carptet, then going on actual pavement every so often isn't going to get you anywhere. Falling is part of learning how to skate. By the sounds of it, you're afraid of hurting yourself.
That comes with learning how to skate though bro. You will fall, no matter how long you stay on the rug.
I used to skate, but gave it up in 1999. I rolled my ankle one too many times and my knees were hurting. It was too hard on me, so I said fuck it. It isn't worth it.
I was good at pop-shove its, heelflips, kickflips, and that was about it. :p I was never into it hardcore, but you have to learn a moving ollie to know how to do any of them, so just keep practicing.

yeah just keep practicing. another thing lots of kids skip is just learning how to push around comfortably. its really hard to land solid ollies if your stuggling to push and keep your balance.
get smooth, stay light footed and just push around everyonce in a while, it all helps gain boardcontrol. Just practice cause it does take a loooooong time.
