Newby needs help / male or female plant here
Hello everyone,
I have a White Widow Plant here.
It started showing the nice little white hairs about a week into flowering, and now it looks like it getting some balls coming out of the bud sites.
Theres white hairs coming out of these balls, so being new to this, Im not sure if thats how the buds grow, or if its making seeds.
Theres no signs of seeds on the main stems, just coming of the bud sites.
So, my question is this, is it male or female ?
I have 4 plants, and the other 3 are a skunk type that dont look anything like this one.
Thanks for any info and help.
Heres some pics, hope they help.

OH SNAP!!!
I was just asking about the same condition in my "Link me baby" post! I was worried that those little sacks under the leaves might be a sign of a seeded female?
Thanks all!

Weedhound, you have a lot of posts so I hope you're right but mine looked like that about a week ago and now they have become seeds! I think I have seeded females. This is my first grow so I'm not sure.
Any other opinions would be GREATLY appriciated.
Also....Is there anything I can do for them if they are seeded females? They are about 2 weeks shy of done flowering. Or should I just chuck them all and start again?

I believe the little "balls" you are referring to are the pollen sacks on the females buds. I am not sure what the real name for this is, but the sacks swell to invite pollenation from a male. If your sacks are full of seed then your female was most deffinately introduced to a male at some point in time-or, maybe a hermaphrodite??
Some pics would help. And someone else will prolly have better insite if I am wrong. Good luck!

And seeds don't make it any less a female....;) Pocket....they're called calyxes and you are right so no insight needed.

Good god...DONT CHUCK THEM. Let them finish. They won't be as strong as sinsemilla but certainly worth smoking. If they were seeded do you know who dad is? If he's a good guy then plant them.

Thanks!
Better to harvest early (Only about 1% amber) or let them go another week or so and have more seeds?

No let them finish all the way.....are you sure there are seeds? Even if there are let them finish.....resin gets better each day it stays. I like my trichs 50/50 cloudy amber....more amber....more couchlock. Clear trichs....less strong head high, no couchlock. Cloudy=right in the middle.

Like everyone else said. Nothing wrong with a few seeds, get a loupe and start checking trichomes, don't kill her; she wants to have your baby! :stoned:

BUT....
I have clones ready to replace these seeded females. Might the clones get seeded by these seeded ladies? Are they like hermies that way?
Thanks.

Also....
Will bleach/water wash down of everything kill any remaining pollen?

I asked how long til seeds develop, the answer I recieved was 2-3 weeks. How did the females get pregant? Did they hermie? If they were pollinated by another plant (meaning male) then they will not pollinate the new batch. They have to have balls to do that. Look for male parts on your females to see if they impregnanted themselves or not. I believe you can just spray down the plants that might have pollen on them with water to wash away the jizz. Yes, you'll want to clean your room too...probably with bleach water.
Can you keep your clones in limbo until the the others are chopped? That is what I would do. With my first grow both my females hermied and had some seeds (very little btw) but the smoke was still stellar. I seriously would NOT get rid of them being so close to harvest. If you already have one percent amber, and you have seeds forming, keep cking the trichs...they are going to be done very fast. Ck in the morning and at night. It could happen in a few hours, honestly. That has been my experience anyways.

The ones I had looked just like that and had seeds. (They could be just swollen calyaxes too as you mentioned whisky). Burst one open, you'll know the difference. Hard, seed. Squishy, swollen calyx.

OK, this is where I get confused. Will seeded females grow bannanas and balls like a hermie? None of mine have those. When I squeesed open a few of these "calyxes" they had hard round things inside that appeared to be imature seeds (No hard shell to them).
BTW Sorry for pawning this thread.

Thread-pawner. If one could look and see whether a female had seeds or not by glancing at a photo then they are superman with x-ray eyes. Where's my money? :D
Slow....not sure how you got the idea that making babies (seeds) somehow makes women grow a penis and balls. But it doesn't. pay me.

WEEDHOUND...The check's in the mail! LOL
How do you tell the difference between a normal female calyex and a seed pod before the white hairs appear?

Slow I can't even tell if it IS a female before the white hairs appear. That IS how I can tell.....the white hairs appear. I haven't had the issue so I can't really say but I think Bree answered pretty well from her seed experience. And I don't think they even CAN get pregnant before the hairs appear but I am not sure on that so don't spread it around. ;)

Exactly.....right right right. Did I say you were right? lol. Anyways, slow, those are seeds that you squished. Now you need to get out your magnifying glass and look to see if you have male parts anywhere on your fems. IF you don't see any, you probably got pregnant when you had males in the room....and you are in the clear. Keep your clones in limbo no matter(meaning move them just far away enough from your light to keep them from getting too big while in waiting). Also, if your clones are in the same room as where the suspected males were, next watering wash them down well with water. Hopefully they don't have tons of hairs that picked up jizz. Clean your room a bit with bleach water and if you need to water your flowering ladies I would spray them down with water too for good measure. This may not help any with these current plants but will get rid of any residual sperm (?) that may be hanging around. Like I said keep cking trichs. You have pregnant plants and they finish fast.
I'm still here! Bree
EDIT: if you did find male parts, remove them carefully with tweezers and then take the ladies out of room and spray with water.

Bree - If you were talking to me (I sorta pawned this thread) then...One plant and a few branches of another were seeded females. I am drying them now. The other two plants are female and very very very close to harvest (I hope! First time growing and clear to amber tri's are taking forever. Patience has never been one of my virtues! LOL)
