stupid websight saying u can die from pot..

near the end of the article it says a human can die from ingesting 21 grams of pot... but they made that conclusion on rats... but i thought there was another study that rats actually lived longer with THC? now i dont understand how those rats died... it said they used inhalation so that means that they smoked out the rats? Well they probably died because they were smoked out to death ... not from the THC... they also saying withdraw symptoms of weed are nausea which is wrong also because ive never felt nausea from weed ever! it makes nausea go away.... Why cant these websight get their facts right?

Yeah they might have died from oxygen deprivation. And it's not 21 grams at all in rats it's like i forget how many pounds, and within 15 minutes. I believe you need to smoke an eighth a second for 15 minutes to OD, which is impossible because even if you wanted to try this, you would first die of oxygen deprivation.

Ingesting as in eating?

I don't think anyone would take 21grams of high potency to the head. You would probably pass out well before the half way point. And when they say "high potency" how high is that? 30%+ THC?

Towards the bottom it says the rats died of inhaling the cannabis. It goes on to say, if converted to human weight, a 75kg person, would die from injesting 21 grams.

How can they know the conversion to smoking vs. eating it? :wtf:

Either way, I don't think anyone would die by eating 21 g's of cannabis.

If they need a human test "rat" I would be more than wiling to try and smoke 21 grams any day...a long as someone else buys it!

LD 50 on rats..666mg/kg. LD 50 on mice....486mg/kg. You guys need to do a little more reading.

Of course you can die from pot. If you buy an ounce of weed and shove all the buds down your throat, you could suffocate.

^^^ well i think its pretty obvious to any "stoner" when you get red eye its the blood vessels in your eyes opening up as cannabis is a muscle relaxent, thus making it easier for the blood to pass as pressure would be released

Excellent point Chisme. You can die from too much of anything. Some of these folks have a point....no one's going to ingest an oz or something... but so many people want to forget that it is a drug.....like any other drug....side effects and all. I sometimes wonder if people just WANT to believe it's harmless because they use it.

PS I use my share of it too....alot....but I know better than to say it is harmless.

It is physically impossible to overdose from smoking cannabis therefore it makes it SAFER then alcohol and tobacco. Those LEGAL drugs KILL hundreds of thousands of people a year, that is a FACT. I wish freedom to all the non violent cannabis users who are being imprisoned for executing their free will by consuming a plant which causes no harm and or suffering to anyone. LEGALIZE!

I have had laser surgery on my left eye and am scheduled for it on my right at the end of the month because of Glaucoma. Glaucoma is simply "elevated eye pressure". I had a reaction to a topical steroid which had caused a slight bit of permanent damage and an elevated pressure which caused a tempoary loss of vision.

Redness and reduced pressure are not directly related, ie red eyes have nothing to do with lower eye pressures. I smoke daily and never get red eyes. There are numerous factors that can attribute to "elevated eye pressure". Furthermore, it is not blood that builds up pressure but more of a water substance.

Think of the eye as a sink. Water is on, drain is draining. With glaucoma, you could have a clogged drain, or a faucet that is on "too much" ie overflowing=high pressure. I am not sure if weed "slows down the water" or "unclogs the drain"....

My eye Dr. told me I have really big pupils...

I thought they could not find an LD 50 for rats by injecting it with THC.... and by any chance does any one know whats the most bud any one has consumed ever? like the world record? I mean if I decided to orally consume an ounce of cooked bud... like would any one have any idea what it would feal like? :stoned:

I believe the actual toxicology of cannabis is very difficult to achieve in the first place...something like a 150 pound person 1500 pounds of cannabis smoked or ingested within 15 minutes...not gonna happen for anyone. Not even jesus could do that.

well ok ok mate im no doc beleive me i was just putting a reply to what it described glycoma as on that site, but you have it so i geuss you know the ins and outs much better then me,.

but i do know for FACT that red eye is the blood vessels enlarging, cos of the vein wall un-contracting (un-tightening) due to muscle relaxing properties,

like the Tens machine people use on the viens on the sides of the head and back of the neck it send small electonic impulses via sticky pads these impulses sends a small shock to the viens,. and as its a small electric shock it just makes the vein walls relax and open up thats why i thought it would aid err....drainage lol, but yeah
