I think I saved her life..(long read)

First off, sorry to the mods for a reference to c***, but I think it should be added in detail..you'll see..

This happened about a month ago, but I didn't feel like talking bout it much..also sorry if its long..I wanna throw in as much detail for the best replies possible, thanks:jointsmile:

Myself, and two friends, planned on hanging out on Friday and just smoke some bowls..well one of them brought 1gram of c***. I had no problem trying it, but I don't do hard drugs..so we split it even to the three of us. After that we went back to their house and they proceeded to drink tequila. I didn't drink because I don't like anything about alcohol(a few alcoholics in the family too) so I go to the car and get my stash and rolled a large spliff.

After they've downed a 3 or 4 double shots, we go into the backyard to smoke that herb, and only one of them wants to smoke. So, we light it up and towards the end of the spliff shes the most high I've ever seen her. This is the type of person you don't really want to be around when shes really high, because she just can't function right. She starts screaming if you ask her to do something she doesn't want to do, she loses all concept of respect, because completely rude. Well I don't really care cause I planned on going inside and playing guitar hero.:cool: Anyways, after the spliff she starts acting her normal uncontrollably high self and ends up repeating "I cant say my last name", along with many fucked up tries. Then she gets up and starts hitting us...literally as if she was fighting us..my jaw was sore the next morning..she stopped after a minute or so..

Then shes saying she can't breath..and I've heard of people claiming they can't breath when they're that high, but are either messing around, or really can and don't think they can. So I go inside to get her a cup of water with a straw and shes twitching her leg and bouncing her head, just like some high people do without noticing. All of a sudden her leg stops and her head falls forward. I'm starring at her and I didn't know what to think..I repeat her name out loud a few times, only to get no reply. We both franticly get up and I feel her neck..no pulse..I feel her wrists..no pulse..I even put my ear to her back..I don't hear single beat.. I thought, "This can't be happening". By now you can sure bet my high got up and left with the ole "good luck with that, I'm gonna go have fun". Well..I'm saying to call the ambulance while the other girl is freaking out saying we're probably just not sober enough to tell shes just past out..well I fucking know for sure cause I'm not drunk. We try putting her head back and moving her around, but it was dead weight. I go to get the phone to call her mom and the ambulance to tell them everything in hope to save her life..but I hear gagging..shes sitting in the chair with her head between her knees throwing up into her feet.

I still didn't know what to do, and I assumed that was her body getting rid of the waste after shes dead? I rush over to her and starting asking her questions, but get no reply. She starts twitching her legs again, and the other girl is saying shes fine, shes moving and throwing up. Well being how paranoid I was, I thought she was twitching like..body spasms..like before someone dies.. After awhile of her throwing up I could start to feel breath flow in and out of her mouth. Biggest relief of my life. She didn't have a pulse for about 2minutes in that time.

We let her finish throwing up and finalllllllly she starts mumbling "I'm cold." I was so happy to hear her talk, even though shes annoying when she does.:p
We washed down the throw up with a hose, along with her feet, only to find her not fucking responding or breathing or having a pulse..GREAT. The same thing happens again with no pulse, breathing, or movement. After about another 15 minutes all thats over and we put socks on her to walk her inside. I fucking have to give her my socks cause all the whites in the other chicks house are in the washer, and she didn't bring any. So shes all warm in the living room with a huge popcorn bucket in case she had to throw up.

Everything seems fine..then she starts gagging and throwing up. I sit her up so theres no way for her to choke on her puke, and she just starts puke mostly water or some other liquids. I was surprised she had anything left! Shes puking into this bowl and when shes done, she just goes limp. Dead weight. Again, I check for a pulse..none.. I put my ear to her back and pretty much hold her to see if I feel any expanding of her body(to check for breathing) and there was no beating or moving. This was the longest time of no signs of living. Her eyes were sunk back, and her tongue was at the back of her throat..I thought that was it..shes dead. I wasn't counting the clock, but it seemed for at least 5 full minutes she was just dead. I began to think shes not gonna snap back into it..so I think..CPR.

Now..I don't know if you've ever tried CPR on a limp body with throw up falling out of her mouth, and still all inside but it was gross and the other girl was hesitant at first, but I didn't fucking care cause I don't want to have to live my life knowing my friend died with us that night..I breath in her mouth and the other friend pushes down on her chest and we were actually doing it well. I was blowing air in, and I was noticing it being pushed out. After bout 10 tries she finally gasps for air so loud it sounded like it could've woken the neighbors up..

The night ended with myself staying up till 630am, sitting up with this girl, checking to see if she was breathing every 2minutes. This was the scariest thing thats ever happen to me in my life so far..

I'll also add this,(don't be close minded please) I don't know if you all believe in spirits and evil spirits trying to take lifes of some sort..cause i dont really know if i believe in it either, but a few nights back we were using a psychic circle (oujia board) and it was saying how I was the strongest spiritually (9/10) and the girl that almost lost her life was the weakest spiritually (2/10)
A few nights later when I was stoned, I came up with this: What if a bad spirit saw she was weak(on drugs) and tried to take her life away? Seeing as I was a "9/10", she was a "2/10" and the other girl was a "7/10" Is it possible we "fought off" the spirit and saved her life that way? It sounds stupid as I read what I'm typing..but any explanations as to what happened would be great:)

Sounds like you got veeeery lucky, if she'd have died you both would be screwed.

I know If I couldn't have taken her myself, I shouldve called an ambulance..but the drunk girl wouldn't give me the keys..

well either the dope was cut with something she was allergic to or you are right about the spirits because no one is going to od .3 g of the stuff. id say i would have taken her to the hospital but really in that situation i dont know if i would had or not had i wouldnt have mentoined any drugs outside of alcohol. actually upon rereading it 911 may have been called with the no pulse situation but you were right to try cpr too cause if you didnt she probably would have been dead when the ambulance got there. the point is i know coke is bad but you cant od on .3 grams unless you weigh around 30 pounds.

Why the hell didn't you call 911 in the first place? Suppose you couldn't feel her pulse, but it was there? And if you continued doing CPR? It would have messed her up for sure. Chances are, you missed the pulse and did very inadequate CPR- Trust me, ribs BREAK, or at least crack when you're doing CPR right, and if the heart stobs beating, it doesn't just 'start' on its own, let alone more than once.

Next time, CALL THE HOSPITAL.

We were trying to avoid breaking ribs, but still push the air out..trust me I wanted to call an ambulance.

What stopped you from calling 911? Paramedics are not cops, and they deal with drug-induced medical situations all the time very discreetly. You are very lucky your acquaintance didn't die. And don't kid yourself that it was your skilled application of CPR that did that.

Situations like that one are what fire-rescue teams are there for. They have the equipment and the training to take care of airway-breathing-circulation emergencies and to get aspirated vomit out of the way. It sounds like you came on here, enjoying recounting the night's high dramas and hoping to be congratulated for your heroics. What you're getting, far more rightly, is chastisement for not having been more responsible (assuming this is a factually true story, which I have my doubts about. It's told in far too deliberately narrative and storylike a fashion for me not to be suspicious.).

In the future, call 911. And if you're dealing with people who're apt to get into trouble with recreational substances, also keep this link handy, you and everyone else, and enter this number into your cell phones:

Actually, no. I was just sharing an "experience" in hope for any possible answers as to why that happened to her. I KNOW that we should have called paramedics, and been more responsible. Trust me, I know. As far as the story goes, thats how I remember the night. Thanks for your advice though.

Again, you misunderstood. I have no skill in CPR other than the basic knowledge one can assume to do on the spot.

Good thing you saved her man. Like everyone else said you should called 911. This is why you shouldn't mix drugs unless you are experienced! Even then it can be dangerous....

hey man i give you props cuz it does sound like you might of saved her life but i would of called the paramedics right fuckin then when she died the first time lol.

Sounds like typical drunk behavior to me. I have had a couple friends go to the hospital because people panicked and the Dr could tell right away that they were drunk and just needed to sober up. People can throw up when they are passed out but as long as they are breathing they will be fine. I suppose a small woman could OD on booze, so if she really wasn't breathing (hard to tell sometimes) you may have saved her life.

While .3g of said substance doesnt seem that substantial, it can be too much. For some one with any kind of heart problems, the mixture of the white devil and alcohol can be very dangerous. Firstly, that mixture creates cocaethylene, which in turn makes your heart rate higher then it would be if you had just done the white devil alone.

Now with your super revved up heart you add cannabis, which also increases your heartrate.

So you have .3g of garbage poison (that's A LOT of powder to put in your nose in one sitting) constantly being absorbed not allowing her heart to calm down.


You did save her life and no it was not evil spirits, it was just reckless teenage behavior without thinking of the consequences. It happens.

You should have taken her to the Emergency Room. Evil spirits had nothing to do with it. Mixing COKE possibly cut with METH, Alcohol and Cannabis is a sure way to fuck anybody up.

Wait... Did you say you tried not to break her ribs, and do CPR to push... the air out? That's most definately not the purpose of CPR.

CPR is used as a crude way to both attempt to stimulate the heart to resume somewhat normal functioning, only secondary to an even more basic attempt to mimic the pumping to get oxygenated blood through the body to keep the cells from dying of lactic acid produced by anaerobic respiration when cells are starved from oxygen. The mouth-to-mouth is a way to provide the oxygen via a secondary source- you. That being said, you don't need to "push the air out" of the lungs, it's already automatically expelled.

For the rest of you not seeing the issue with an untrained person doing CPR, if one is performing untrained CPR on an unresponsive person, if their hand placement is even 3 inches out of place, the xiphoid process (a little piece of cartilage at the end of the sternum, located above the heart) would be at a high risk of breaking off, driving into the heart and causing even more muscle damage and laceration.

As someone who has performed CPR successfully 6 times before, I advise you, especially if you're using a cocktail of drugs that are at high risk for impairing cardiac function, to PLEASE take a CPR class in case something like this occurs again, and to exercise much more caution when using a potentially lethal combination of drugs like this.

I'm sorry if this comes off as scathing, I don't mean it to. Instictively, you did the right thing, and I'm glad she's okay. Just be more careful, and leave the rescuing to those who know how to do it properly!

That's why Purple Banana was advising you to take a CPR class, MGC, because once you learn proper CPR technique, you'll know there's no pushing-out of air necessary. The lungs deflate on their own with the chest compressions. You'll also learn the proper positioning and placement of an unconscious person's head and neck so as to secure an open airway instead of simply blowing air in, which you likely did into her esophagus instead of her trachea.

Purple Banana, you've clearly had an impressively high success rate with CPR. You must have done it on an awful lot of people to get six successes.

Holy shit. I just have to agree with Birdgirl... That's impressive. I've never saved anything more than a couple organs with CPR.

I've worked on a cardiac unit before for a good amount of time, and I've watched many resuscitations by nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, ect. as well as having a crash cart handy, so that may add a bit to my rates. Out of the hospital, I've done it 3 times successfully (included in the 6), one didn't really count, because we used an AED (in an airport) as well, so it wasn't exclusively CPR.

I'm on a combo postpartum and pediatrics unit, I'd be very afraid to do CPR on an infant or small child... Luckily we're not a specialty hospital, so all of the really bad cases get shipped out.

TBH, if i was in the situation, i dont know what i'd do. I'd really want to call the paramedics but i think i'd freak out to much.

I have only been that drunk twice before. Once off Tequila and once off Vodka.

I have seen 3 other people who you could probably swear is dead. But then again if someone actually got to the point where they died, they probably would die on my couch because personally, i'd never take anyone who has had too much 'alcohol' to the hospital as long as they move.

that could have been another story weapon for the "See i told ya so MJ leads to harder drugs and MJ is a dangeroous killer !"
