Isn't that base times height divided by two????
Oh i get it, it's the same thing.
Yeah, I totally fucking failed math.
umm..Nixon???Quote:

base times height over 2 means base times height divided by 2.
that's some algebra shit isn't it? I didn't start doing that stuff until high school, and that's about as far as i got with math.
I believe you are correct.Quote:

Definitely the area of a triangle lmfao. I learned that in grade 7, max.
I don't get the initial question though?

He can write in cursive since 1st grade, and I didnt learn that until 3rd grade. Kids these days are learning at faster and faster paces.
People have not been getting ??smarter? in our time, because the human brain changes very slowly. Subjects are usually taught according to the relevance of the time and/or area. There was a 19th century grade-school exam on the 'net a few years ago that was impossible for me to pass - all kinds of questions about pecks and bushels, kilometers, cubic feet, mathematics, etc., that twelve year old kids had to answer. They didn't have calculators, computers, or even electricity in those days. Maybe THEY were "smarter". :thumbsup
I know, also, that "penmanship" was much better two hundred years ago, as well. I have copies of old family documents that are extremely well written.
i believe they said it was Johnson...but don't quote me lol...i thought nixon tooQuote:

They probably are smarter...i dont deny it.
If i ever went on that show and a 5th grader beat me, i would fucking power-bomb him. That would be a sweet episode.
dam dude. we didnt learn cursive until third. Multiplication in 4th
I learned cursive and multiplication tables in 2nd grade. That base times heighth divided by 2 (Area of a triangle?) i think i learned in like 4th or 5th grade. First president impeached though im still not sure. Kids these days aren't getting smarter. Especially not the public schools. My friend is at a public school and said they get almost NO homework. Studies have shown that homework is very beneficial to kids in high school! I have at least about 2 hours of homework per night. Kids are getting lazier and lazier due to poor public education. American kids are not keeping up at all compared to China and India either.
funny you should mention that.... kids in elementary in CA might be on the verge of NEVER seeing homework again... or maybe it's the highschool kids... i know one will still be getting basic homework and the other will no longer get any... atleast that's what's proposed....Quote:

The first dumb bastard had no fuckin clue what month Colombus Day was celebrated. Jerk off....The show was a bit slow to start and got only slower from there. 3 months at the most and it's off.

I saw that in the news too SlipKnot, Either theyre going psycho about preparing kids for hyper competitive college entrance or the parents are just whinier
The "base times height over 2" is the formula for a triangle. The "base" part refers to the length size of the bottom of the triangle. The "times" part means multiplying (x), and the "height", is the length of the triangle from top to bottom. "Over 2" means divide.Quote:

There you go. :) I'm a closet math nerd. I love the stuff.
But I agree, 4th grade material? I think not!
I have been out of elementray school for, 15 years or so, and if that is the material they're teaching now, I would have failed for sure. I had a hard enought ime in school as it is. Bad case of ADHD that went untreated.
 ThanksQuote:

Didn't Howard Stern do this years ago????
I think that show is supposed to be a joke. I mean, what little 5th grade fuck knows what REM stands for. I didn't learn that until college level psychology.
very impressive Chowder...
Thanks! I know I can beat a 5th grader. :pQuote:

I learned the most though in high school grade math. I didn't go to much high school when I was a teenager, but I did get my HS equiv. attending a college and that's when math was actually fun. Probably because I understood it and wanted to learn, but they say when you get older things are easier to learn.
Anyways, moving on. :)
the firts president impeached was andrew johnson
I know, I know, REM is that band from Georgia that was big in the 90's. Right??? Either that or Random Exited Masturbation. I suffer from that ailment myself ;)Quote:

She wanted to grade harder but was told she had to be more lenient in her grading.
Who knows, maybe they are throwing harder and garder stuff at kids these days, but it doesn't seem like they really care if they learn it anymore.
I think the show is biased, Who remebers anything from 5th grade? You can be rusty..seeing you never use this stuff in the real world.
Besides, School is nothing more than a controling device for childern.
We dont need no education.. We dont need no thought control.
not when its sin and cosine and tanget,Quote:

i thought it was funny actually... the black chick made 100K, while the white dude who graduated from ucla with a 3.0 GPA only made 5k.... o.0 wtf is that shit? (btw, just incase this might get construed, i only say the black chick so people will know who i'm talking about now and in the future should this thread re-rise... the point is lmfao... that someone won like 95 more thousand, than someone who literally shoulda walked away with 1 million... )
that show is kind of funny lol
sin cos and tan are very nice when it comes to substituting in calc... they can be suprisingly helpful... but then of course they always come back to bite me in the ass in Phys C...
Algebra is a neat math tool too. You'd be surprised how much you use it everyday. It can simple, or it takes time to write it out on paper. You can find unknown angles if needed for welding or building something. Unknown distances, or even simple adding of money is algebra based too.
Algebra is my favorite math thing to do. I used to get ripped in college and do my homework for hours after class. I kicked ass at it.
