energy bill bust theorys and my 400w upgrade

2 questions about my first indoor grow:

-i currently have a 250w hps system for my little growroom i just made but after a lot of reading throughout this site i dont think its strong enough to make some nice dense buds with a good yeild. i just bought a 400w system and ill just sell my 250. what i want to know is how much does it affect your bills? itll be 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flowering. will it go up significantly? noticeably? im so paranoid im thinkin of buyin energy efficient bulbs to replace every bulb in my house. am i getting a little to paranoid?

-also is it true that a lot of people get busted because your energy bills go up? whats the deal with that? are our electric companies forced to give big changes in energy level reports to police? how does that work and is it true?

your cool man, 400 isn't gonna raise it a significant amount. Energy saver bulbs wouldn't hurt and are very very affective at cutting down electricity costs. Also unplug things when not using them, most things when plugged in use a small amount of standby electricity. The police aren't gonna come knocking down your door because of electricity. A lot of people run outdoor security lights all night long, sometimes being in excess of 100 per bulb, people have reptiles with high wattage bulbs. Large fish tanks also use lots of elecricity. Big screen tv's, treadmills, 1400 watt portable heaters, two refridgerators at 1200 watts a piece. I could keep going all day and these are things a lot of people have and run constantly without thinking twice. If your gonna get caught chances are either someone is gonna stumble across it, or your gonna break the #1 rule and tell someone other than yourself. I'll end with this... If your still worried about your 400 watt light, imagine sitting in a bathroom that has 8 60watt bulbs horizontally across the top of the mirror (not uncommon), turn them all on, sit, and wait for the police to come. :) Good luck with your grow, remember the #1 rule and you'll be cool.....paranoia will kill you my friend...Peace

i'm running 1800w of hid's, power bill went up 31$ a month for all of them combined...

Our bloody bill is up 150.00 to 180.00 a month to run the 2000w. room .
BTW did the goodies make it , or were they smashed by the P.O ?
