So. The rest of the media has put thier foot down on the subject. How does everyone here feel? If you haven't heard, then I'll try and bring you up to date:

Carlos Mencia (mexican guy with a show on comedy central) has been outed by Joe Rogan (fear factor, ultimate fighting, etc). Aparently carlos has been stealing material for years, but no one wanted to say anything. Also, Carlos's name isn't Carlos at all. It's Ned.
I never liked the guy and now I know why. I had allready heard it jokes before.

Any fans of the Mind of Ned show? Any haters?

Joe Rogan is pretty funny and pretty smart, if you watched any of the videos you would hear the call when George Lopez talks about calling HBO and telling them that he counted about 13 minutes of his material in Carlos's stand up.

Even before when I thought he was mexican and his name was carlos I still thought he was a bad comedian, atleast his show sucked.

No he wouldn't say anything incriminating against Carlos but he never said he was innocent. Carlos is a tool. Joe Rogan is the man.

Because of what happened to Joe Rogan. He's been dropped from the comedy store and his agent has dropped him. Carlos has got 'hollywood connections'. Most comics are still trying to make a living. Joe doesn't care.
Something I should mention here is if you watch the clip, it looks like Joe confronts Carlos on set about it. What really happened is Joe announces a comic comming to stage and take a stab at Carlos. Carlos takes the mike away from the new guy and goes out on stage calling Joe a pussy.
I've never thought Joe to be all that funny. Never thought one way or the other, but one thing I do know...the man isn't a pussy.

I love that episode, as for carlos, his jokes never were funny because all he was doing was stating the obvious, Im mexican and ive said those jokes waaaaaaaaaay before carlos even came on air.

the guy who makes the de-de-deeee jokes, he replaced the chappelle show, now CC switches on an off between showing mind of mencia and chappelles show

Well i saw carlos on a hbo or some other hour special and thought he was pretty damn funny. That was a number of years before he got mind of mencia and the comedy central special. When I saw him again and his jokes were the same, I just thought he was just ok.
When I found out he was stealing jokes and denying it, I thought he was a pos. Jokes are gonna get stolen from time to time maybe by accident (everyone is inspired by someone), but to deny it even when busted is pretty lame.

As far as I know, much of nothing other than his name being Ned and his joke stealing is known fact. He may really be mexican for all I know. I'm not that sure about what that means if he isn't mexican. Does that mean hes racist?? I know that I'm white and if I went up there and ripped on people like he does, I'd be burnt alive. I agree about the name change thing. I could really care less. Thought it was worth mentioning though (to tell the full story). The joke thing however just offends the hell out of me. A couple jokes I heard were pretty generic, but the wall around mexico was pretty on the head. The problem here is that when you have a guy like carlos/ned/whatever, his whole act is built on delivery (a large part of comedy). Joe even told Mencia that he thought he was great at delivering a joke, but you can't take credit for the writing.

It's like the guys on SNL. Occationally you might have a skit idea, but there are teams of writers involved in the process. The comedians go on stage and deliver the jokes, but the writers still get thier names in the credit. Carlos is essentially doing the same thing of recording a cover of a song and telling the world you wrote it. Say I redid a cover of some beatles song and it sounds so different/better than the orignal, that I just put my name down as writing it. People would flip and I'd get sued silly.

I never liked mencia, especially mind of mencia. Whenever I would get stoned and watch him i would get especially pissed off for some reason. Now I have a real reason to hate him, besides his lame comedy. Actually it's not even his, so wtf :wtf:

But the Ari guy is the 1st known comic to perform it. Like I said, commics are accidently use other peoples jokes from time to time, but they allways own up to it and apologize. It's the right thing to do. For some reason Carlos thinks he's above it.

Yeah I hate that guy, I know some jackass just like him. He never clamed to be Mexican, he just never mentioned he was half German. About his name being Ned, most people change there name when they go into the bizz. I'm glad there is a good chance that his career is over. Joe is a real loser though, his career should of been over years ago. . .

Also SNL is a bad example since most of the comedians are co-writers. More like Mad TV. lol

Yea like I said I have no problem with using unorignal material, but you have to give props to those who wrote them. Listen to some comics sitting around talking about material. They're allways referring to these obscure people who are well known to comics, but can't deliver jokes quite good enough to make it to the public eye.
I guess I just don't like the idea of Carlos sitting rich and some other poor guy eating mac n cheese for dinner sleeping in a one bed motel room 300 nights a year. He's a made man, he could at least give props to the 'smaller' guys.

he shouldnt have stolen the shit, but whatever it was, but whatever it was is so bad when delivered by him i cant imagine it being good in the first place. and yes he did change his name to carlos to seem more mexican or maybe not changed but its a stage name. the guys show was a very very very VERY poor replacement for chappelles show by comedy central. basically i think this is just stereotype jokes i heard in junior high with a national audience

Carlos is a loser... how can he call himself a commedian if he's off stealin peoples jokes!

Joe Rogan is actually a pretty amazing comedian... you should look into some of his stuff, he is also a huge psychedelic user... check this out!

I like Joe Rogan. Certainly not as good as George fuckin' Carlin, but he's cool.

Carlos is a tool. "Urrrr I'm a Mexican I eat beans and wear sombreros and hop the fence into America (insert that fucking annoying 'dee-dee-dee' thing here)."

He's so formulaic, it's not even funny. It's pathetic. He gets all of his jokes by 'observing' racial differences. Sure, I think racial jokes can be funny as hell. But when your entire MATERIAL consists of pointing out the obvious, particularly Mexicans, then you're a really bad comedian.

The only funny thing about Carlos Mencia is that he tricked Comedy Central into giving him a show, probably by acting like he could fill the place of Chappelle's Show with racial humor. (even if it doesn't have any actual point other than to offend and gain publicity) That Comedy Central bought it is hilarious; the show is a trainwreck, to be frank.

He relies on his "Dee-Dee-DEE" jokes and incredibly simplistic racial stereotypes for most of his "humor" on the show and it just makes my stomach churn. (Not to mention his pathetic "if you're offended, it's your fault for feeling like that" excuse) Now, listen, I'm up for a good row of racial humor -- I think people like Greg Giraldo and Chappelle and George Carlin and Patrice O'Neal and even Sarah Silvermann can be funny and offensive and have at least a tinge of context. Mencia, however only gets the nod on being offensive.

As far as plagiarism goes: The video on Youtube makes a good pseudo-Michael Moore type argument, what with the use of spliced and edited and clipped interview material and some pretty good deflection tactics (so what he used a different name for entertainment purposes? WTF does that have to do with plagiarism?) and all...to me, the bigotry's more important but hey...
