Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
These two finally showed this morning, and they are both female. but since they are both from bag seed that was saved for over a year its hard to say if they are the same strain. the one is obviously taller than the other (had to LST b/c it was growing so fast).
I only have room for ONE to continue to grow so i need to choose which to get rid of.
anyways my question is which one would you continue to grow if you had to make a choice? please give reason if you dont mind.
THANKS!!!

The one on the right ;) the lateral branches are bigger, and its more spread out, still, i would put the other one outside or somethin, and just let it do its thing, theres no point throwing it away...
i also suggest re-potting the one you keep into a bigger pot, do it now before you have the risk of stressing it into being hermie...

agreed on the re-pot
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
would love to keep the other one, there is about a foot of snow outside so it would be imposible to place it out in the cold (will probably just be given to a friend). and yes the winner will recieve a new 3 gallon home.
is there anyway someone could post a picture of a hermie in its earliest stage? just curious b/c at first i thought that it might possibly be a male, but this morning at the very top node was sure enough several female hairs. I fear that the big one might be on the verge of becoming a hermie, and if so would like to know and maybe will just keep the smaller one.
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
a hermie will have female and male parts.sometimes the male parts dont sohw right away. i just ran into 4 hermies in my 10 plant room and i was 4 weeks into 12/12.need less to say they released pollin and hopefully didnt ruin the whole crop.
here is the top of one of my hermie. nice bud but had male sack down on the bottom two branches.
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
there are signs of female, just not in pic (unless what i am about to show is a female sign)
wish were better quality but best can do for now.
QUESTION1: anyone tell if its a hermie? (remember there are female pistels showing!)
QUESTION2: Say they both are hermies (refer to first post) The smaller of the two has the most female pistels showing. Would that change some opinions as to which to keep and flower?

When I blew up pic two, it looks like two balls on the node below where you circled....

well maybe we'll just give it one more day and see what happens... if anyone else has opinions they be much appreciated.
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
Since you are not sure of the strain, it is unwise to throw either out at this time.
If you must throw one out, it would be a total crap shoot, if sex is not an issue.
You have no idea as to which one will produce the most trichomes.
With unknown strains, you have NO IDEA, so, if you must, flip a coin.
Its 50/50 at this point...again...sex withstanding.
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
i would say those are balls... keep the other one, hermies are gay, also if you see any little YELLOW bannanas they are male bits too..
good luck :)...
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
hermie...bummer. i'd keep the lst'd one; it will produce a greater yeild, pull of the male flowers as you see them to avoid a total seed plant. your beans will be useless, as they will all grow to be male or hermie.so your best bet is to discontinue or to work hard on one of them, keeping an eye out for those balls daily... i've done it, it can be done. just requires patience...
hope this helps sweetie
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
Just curious as to a possible cause to why they hermie? Could it be the fluctuation in temperature? I took great care of them, but living up north it gets pretty damn cold outside and inside. our thermostat is busted so you never know when the heater will kick on. temp fluctuates b/w 57-75 degrees. but thanks all for the response and i think i will try and keep one just to see what happens, after all this was a learning experience!!!! thanks to all who responded!
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
most bagseed is hermaphrodite; it's in the genes
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
The hermie can happen when the plant is stressed or forced to think that winter is coming before it is ready to flower. if the light hours change before pre-flower, then the plant is forced into a last minute rush to make seeds, considering if it were to happen in the wild, it would mean that most of the males would have already released their pollen. the plant goes hermie so that it can pollinate itself in a last resort attempt to reproduce. Good luck with those plants.
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
well, i think skarlet sky is on the right track, but i wouldnt say its in BAGSEED genes, most bagseeds are fine, or otherwise the buds would have little bananas dotted about, some plants have it imprinted in their genetics to hermie, if you tried to breed with a plant with that type of genetics, they would pass through to the next generation, making them hermie too, so even if you got any good seeds, they would be useless...
plants with hermie genetics are basically weeds, they reproduce too much, and then their offspring do the same, and you end up with loadsa shit plants that have no use...
just keep the one that isnt a hermie, unless they both are now...
good luck :)
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
I would take the smaller non-LST one. But I just think that plant looks better :) :stoned:
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
when you use bag seed to begin with you are probably more likely to have a hermie thats probably why that bag has seed to begin with as most do sex their plants however its easy to overlook a hermie especially in larger grows.
Proud Father of Two little Girls!!! Question for the Experienced Grower?
let me rephrase. it is a fact that most commercial bagweed, esp that from mexico is hermie. grown in outdoor, not so ideal conditions triggers it, then it gets spread by the birds and the bees, creating hermie bagseed.
it is a fact that most schwag seeds will have hermie traits. i killed one not too long ago, took cuttings to rehash. clones are three inches tall, and already growing balls again. so out it goes.
