blueberry/c99 - first cab grow
This is my first attempt at a grow with some Joey Weed blueberry/c99 hybrid seeds. I made the mistake of adding nutes when they were seeds even (eek!) and I think as a result the middle plant got a bit of a nute burn from the soil (the others did not because I transplanted them to fresh soil).
I'm trying to figure out why growth is so much faster for the middle one, probably because the lights are so much closer?
As it stands right now I have fairly poor lighting, though I'm doing the best I can with what I have. 2x14w (4100K) cfl and one 26w (warm white) in the middle installment, a 15w small fluro tube on the wall, and another 14w (4100K) cfl in the goose lamp.
I have 2x30W 6400K cfls on their way-- this should help things quite a bit, no?
As far as the pseudo-box is concerned the back wall is a white paint job, sides & top are the backs of xmas gift wrap, and the front is foil wrap.
Temp is pretty constantly 22-25 deg C -- is that warm enough?
Plenty of fresh air as the closet doesn't really seal properly, and I purposely left an air hole on the side of my pseudo box.
I bought some 28-14-14 nutes to use in a few days, and I was planning on doing a FIM job on the middle plant shortly -- any suggestions with that?
advice is welcome. cheers.

i think you should lower those cfls about an inch off the plant and put a fan gently blowing on them. You will have to move the light up about each day so it doesnt burn the plant if it touches them. other than that it looks good so far. p.s. you might want to think about gettinga HID light for flowering, if you dont want to go too big a 150 hps should work fine. but the more lumens the better

yeah, I just don't know if an HID is within budget-- they're like $60-100 right?
p.s. I moved the lights closer, they're about 1-2" away from the middle plant.

yea thats about a typical price for a smaller wattage HID, but its more of an investment than a purchase, i think in the long run its deffinatly worth it. but whatever you do good luck and stay safe.
p.s., i started out growing with cfls, after a pretty good harvest i became obsest and started getting more equipment and more detailed in my grows, becareful it will suck you in like it did me

Hell ! I might even donate a reflector! Well........ I'll tell ya how to make 1.
Ga Grown!

some pics of my modified setup below (such bad angles and lighting, but the concept's there).
I bought 2 busted dual-socket ceiling lamps, and a pokemon particleboard poster, bored holes in it and modified it as a makeshift ballast/reflector-type thing for all my lights.
I still have to put reflection on the side facing the plants, and I'm still waiting for my new bulbs.
As it stands I have
2x26w cool white CFL
1x15w cool white tube
1x27w "warm white" (blah)
3x14w 4100K (more blah)
but soon I'll have:
1x55w 5000K CFL
2x30w 6500K CFL
1x15w cool white tube
2x26w cool white CFL
1x27w "warm white"
I still gotta calculate total amt of lumens, but it should be far more than what I have now.
I'm sticking to CFL, for the record, just to see how things turn out. This is a very elaborate experiment for me :D
p.s. no pics of plants themselves, but so you know the big one's at the 5-leaf stage now :D:D

anyone know why in 2 of my plants I see really purple stems on one level of leaves (see last pic)? It's on both of my back plants, but not on the third (front) one.
also, when should I start nutes? is this a good size? I think they're around the proper age, but they're not up to size with the age they are because they've been under weak lights for a while.

some pics of their progress.
and my new 55w cfl ;)
I started them all on nutes now. I've been noticing serious purpling of the stems on the back two, and none on the front one, and the front one's soil had nutes in it from seedling stage, so logical deduction would have it that: yup, they need nutes.

also, here's my results from a FIM job in high-res.
you can see there's about 4 new main stems, I think?

Hi pal!
your having at each internode a lateral growth and these eventually become enough big that you can take them and make clones out of these. if you let them grow you'll get lateral branches with buds on it if it turns out its a girl. ;)

thanks for all the advice and encouragement so far.
here are some updates.
(almost can transport these outdoors!... just 1.5 months!)
one of them is very small and very sad. I think that's because the pot is really strange, and I have a bowl underneath catching water, however sometimes this bowl has quite a bit of water (which I didn't know until now), and some roots were stretching down into it, in the meantime exposing themselves to air.. plus she's kinda overgrown by the other two, and the pot is much smaller.. so all these elements are factors in the sadness. I plan to keep her around and bring her back to good status when I move them outdoors.
In one pic I close-up to see if any of you can judge the sex, mind giving a hand with that?
anyway, things are going great, these things are SUPER picky about nutes though!
also, any advice on how to bring my big girl back around? she's the droopy one. I can't figure out why I've flushed a few times, and now she's on the same treatment as my other girl.
