Letter for my class about legalization.
Well my teacher wanted to know our view on herb, so she had us write a short letter like thing to share our views. I used the word marijuana because we couldnt use bud/herb/skunk or any slang terms.
:pimp:
Dear Class,
As we all know marijuana is an amazing part of most if not all of our lives, not only in this city, but all around the country, and all around the world. Police are spending millions and millions of dollars to stop the "harmful" use of marijuana. Yet not ONE study has proven marijuana to be lethal, nor has it proven any long term effects, like cancer. Marijuana doesn't make you hallucinate in moderated quantities, so why is it illegal? Because politicians are too ignorant past the legallity issues. If this country wants to make more money because we are majorily in-debt, why not sell marijuana in stores? It would be able to be taxable along with everything else that is sold. Politicians hate to be wrong, and is the only reason I can see why we will not legalize any amount here in the US. It is true marijuana can/does kill braincells, but its not like they kill every single braincell that you have. I'm tired of seeing comercials against marijuana, making it seem like if you smoke it once your a bum. This is completely not true! I know personally many CEOs of companys, that habitually smoke marijuana. Its not an unusual thing. Why can't people just enjoy what they enjoy?

Letter for my class about legalization.
Cannabis is/was made illegal to protect the logging industry and the paper industry and make sure petrochemical and plastics industries were all fine. They used a racist term "Marijuana" in relation to Mexican workers - nice touch.
Hemp can produce 4x the amount of material compared with trees grown for wood/paper - 4x the amount!!.
The seeds are a brilliant food - unique in that they supply a ton of essential amino acids.
Do I need to go on?
Pull that one out of the bag and see what teacher says ;)

Cannabis doesnt kill brain cells.
That's one of the biggest mis-conceptions.
The only cells it kills are cancerous, and also, it may help healthy cells live longer, promoting longer life, and also a more active brain.
And also put in to the letter how us cannabis smokers suffer racism every day, because people are too ingorant to do any research. We're discriminated against, and looked down upon, when infact, we are more important to this world than all of those ignorant non smoking morons put together.

I edited it for you, some of your grammar was off and your diction could have been better;) Not knocking you, just helping a brotha out!
"Dear Class,
As we all know cannabis is an amazing part of most, if not all, of our lives. It is found not only within this city, but throughout the country, and indeed, throughout the entire world. Law enforcement entities are spending millions upon millions of dollars to stop the "harmful" use of cannabis. However, not one study has successfully demonstrated the immediate lethality of cannabis. Nor have any studies viably proven any longer term effects, namely cancer and brain damage, among other debilitating illnesses. Such information begs the question: why is cannabis illegal? Political missteps may largely be to blame. I propose the legalization of cannabis for the following reasons:
[lay out your reasons and expound upon them, I can't rewrite the entire thing ;)]
You have a great teacher if her or she lets your write about such things.

Well, actually it does kill brain cells because the way in is consumed is primarily through combustion. Smoke/Lack of oxygen kills brain cells

Letter for my class about legalization.
Hemp is one of the Earth's most diverse plants. Evidence shows that there was hemp fabric dating all the way back to 8,00 BC. Both president Washington and Jefferson grew hemp during the Colonial Era and Early Republic, which at the time was very common. Even the constitution was first written on hemp parchment. Back then it was used for many things including: clothing, food, oils, and rope. Though it's illegal now to cultivate in the U.S. due to many to many things, but mainly because it's intoxicating counterpart cannabis. Which became illegal in 1937 during the Reefer Madness Era, but the real reason was fueled by racism. During those times the government began prohibiting all intoxicants primarily used by the increasing amounts of minorities.
Hemp is great for the environment, it helps eliminate deforestation because it yields four times as much paper as decade old trees. Hemp also has one of the fastest growing taproots, which is great for soil erosion. Not only is the tap root fast growing, but hemp can grow up to 16 feet in only 110 days. Unlike paper, hemp can be bleached with little or no chemicals. The majority of produce grown in the U.S. is protected with many pesticides, but what's so wonderful about hemp is that it rarely needs pesticides. Cotton on the other hand uses 25% of the Earth's pesticides. Not only that, but hemp consumes a fraction of the amount of water cotton does, which is very important because water levels are decreasing at an alarming rate in heavily farmed areas.. As with many plants; hemp's seeds, stalk, and fermentation of the plants can be used to make bio fuel.
Due to natural selection over the 10,000 years of existence have resulted in varieties that look quite different from one another. Starting in the 20's they began selective breeding to produce a favorable hemp production hybrid. That showed traits containing the following: low in THC, fast growing, fibrous, and resistance to pests. When growing hemp they keep the plant in vegetative growth because letting the plant be gin the flowering process would decrease fiver quality and yield. There are three broad groups of Cannabis varieties being cultivated today:
Varieties primarily grown for their fibers, known for their long stems and little branching, called Industrial Hemp
Varieties cultivated for the seeds form which hemp oil is extracted
Varieties cultivated for medicinal or recreational purposes
The fiber has been grown in Asia and the Middle East for 100's of centuries, while Western part of the world didn't begin commercial production until the 18th century. From the 1950s to the 1980s the Soviet Union produced the majority of the world's hemp with a whopping crop of 3,000 square kilometers. Mainly in Ukraine, the Kursk and Orel regions. Some of the smaller producers are located in China Germany, and UK which resumed production in the 90s. Most of Germany's production of fiber is used for composite automotive panels. And China currently produces 40% of U.S.'s hemp consumption.
Hemp has obviously faded out in the last two centuries, but is on the rise again and soon will make a big comeback. Hemp plastics are soon to be a reality, but it will take time and the U.S. government coming to it's senses. Considering we're one of the very few countries who have yet to legalize hemp production. We won't see any drastic changes until hemp gains back it's popularity and the world becomes more environmentally friendly. But looking at history and man's stubborness by the time America comes to it's senses it might be too late.

Aha! But thats oxygen depravation. THC and other cannabinoids trhemselves dont.
So, really, you could do worse damage just by holding your breath.
So really, that argument still stands.

I agree, but marijuana users do not suffer from racism. Racism is discrimination based on race. Not age, gender, sexual orientation, use of marijuana etc. Those have other names.

No, your right. We are discriminated against for our use of an almost harmless plant that should be legal.
We're treated differntly, as though were the "problem's" within sociaty.

Hmmm, well if you were actually old enough to know what a douchebag is you'd know i cant possibly be one.
1] Grow up.
2] Stop trying to insult people, your only making yourself look childish.
Yes, cannabis can impair short term memory, although this is not the case with all people.
For example, i dont have any loss of short term memory.
Think before you post your childish drivel, there's already enough silly little kids on this site, we dont need anymore.

No, I was trying to say that you used the word "racism" incorrectly. Racism, by definition, is descrimination based on race. Discremenation based on marijuana consumption is not the same as racism.

If you read my post you'd see my first few words were "No, your right."
But we, as cannabis smokers, are still treated differntly by the general public because we smoke a plant.

I brought up racism in my post but should have qualified it a bit better.
I meant that MJ was used as a way of controlling Mexican workers and was used by racists to drum up support to opress said mexican farm workers.
Meh, I'll explain things properly in the future

Sorry to disappoint bruv, but it does destroy the brain in the way that it dissolves the nerve connections in the brain. I want pot legal as much as the next guy, but there's not only pros in ganja.
However, I must say to the writter of this letter that you might want to work on your arguement a little. Maybe list some counter-arguements then disprove them (or my personal favorite: "Why is it that the same people who want it ilegall are the same people who drink their brain to shreds, like politicians?")
Or talk about the Islamic viewpoints, they always shut my opponents up (on this matter anyway :-))

That simply isn't true.
You might be thinking of the Dr. Heath/Tulane Study, 1974
from jackherer.com:
Heath killed the half-dead monkeys, opened their brains, counted the dead brain cells, and then took control monkeys, who hadn't smoked marijuana, killed them too, and counted their brain cells. The pot smoking monkeys had enormous amounts of dead brain cells as compared to the "straight" monkeys.
As reported in Playboy, the Heath "Voodoo" Research methodology involved strapping Rhesus monkeys into a chair and pumping them with equivalent of 63 Colombian strength joints in "five minutes, through gas masks," losing no smoke. Playboy discovered that Heath had administered 63 joints in five minutes over just three months instead of administering 30 joints per day over a one-year period as he had first reported. Heath did this, it turned out, in order to avoid having to pay an assistant's wages every day for a full year.:(
The monkeys were suffocating! Three to five minutes of oxygen deprivation causes brain damage "dead brain cells." (Red Cross Lifesaving and Water Safety Manual) With the concentration of smoke used, the monkeys were a bit like a person running the engine of a car in a locked garage for 5, 10, 15 minutes at a time every day!
The Heath Monkey study was actually a study in animal asphyxiation and carbon monoxide poisoning.
---
This is probably the study that the prohibitionists used to brainwash you into thinking it kills brain cells.
It doesn't

marijuana is THE MOST versatile plant on the Earth. by far.
what plant do you know that can be used for recreation, industry, medical use, beverages, food, clothing, shelter, biofuel and a million other things...
1) making marijuana illegal makes it profitable on the black market. many governments around the globe take advantage of this fact.
2) if it were legal, everyone could grow it easily and little would be made off of it.
3) congress doesnt need facts to push legislation....all they need is fear-mongering from the other branches of the government that know best.
4) SMOKE WEED EVERYDAY!!!!

Prior to turning that in, I'd change it up. If you're writing a paper on weed, don't sound like you smoke weed lol.
Get yourself a very clean outline.
You have to start your letter with something to GRAB the audience reading.
Stating something crazy! and then giving your ideas and collective points to back it up in the next few paragraphs.
DO NOT give any negatives about or try to argue any points the government makes against cannabis or you seem like you're not sure about the cause.
State your opinion, give your points and sign off. Don't touch on stupid things such as global warming, this is just what you were saying earlier and this just kinda changes the subject, we're talking about legalization, not global warming, no offense to whoever suggested that.
The scientific fact that no test resulted in... was good. That knocks opinions down that have no medical or scientific value. So state your opinions WITH scientific value and add that people are not keeping the open mind because we're all following (politicians) self interests and if it doesn't mean something for them in return, and no one is dying from it to gain mainstream america awareness and sympathy. They really don't wanna help. However we have people who die from NOT using marijuana. Ask me.
There is really no stopping it anyway, users are increasing with the new generation of kids our society is producing. There is not one kid in my town that I know, who doesn't smoke.. Blacks hispanics, whites, asians. Mary does not discriminate. Even homies elected.
