possession of paraphernalia..wooo..

So I got pretty lucky today. Me and my buddy went to the movie theatre tonight to see panz labyrinth(sp)....Of course being the stoners that we are, we started lighting up a bowl in the parking lot before the movie. A few hits later an undercover cop pulls up behind us with lights flashing in his massive black dodge ram. The cop comes up to the driver side and sees me trying to hide the pipe

Anyways he tells my friend, who is driving, to step out of the car and asks if theres anything besides marijuana in the car, and tells me to put my hands on the dash so I don't try and hide the weed. My buddy tells him that its only weed and no other drugs and then the cop proceeds to handcuff him and put him aside. The cop then asks me to step out of the car, and put my hands behind my back.

This is the part where it starts to suck, its freezing outside and I have on shorts(wasn't planning on standing out too long haha) and my whole body just goes numb from standing outside for an hour. All this time the cop is just talking to us, asking questions. We remained calm and I was very nice and supportive of what the cop was trying to do. I didnt want to freak out because I knew he could just take me to jail right then and there.

After a bit he tells us that if one of the state troopers doesn't want us, then he will let us free with just some tickets. The whole time he kept telling us about how we will just spend a little time in jail...and I am just thinking "oh shit." Then the fat lady sung, I can hear him say "well guys its your lucky day." Turns out the state trooper didn't want to go out of his way to come get us....so the cop just wrote us each 1 ticket for paraphenalia. They found 2 pipes and the 1/4th to half oz we had. So I am just glad he didnt charge us for possession of maryjane.

I think it helped that we were nice to them, but I dunno...maybe he was just trying to scare us.

Anyways just sharing my story. Have to go to court on the 20th of Feb.

Anyone know what paraphernalia fines are like in texas? I live around houston.

Its my first ticket for anything so I don't really know how the court stuff works. He said it was a class C misdemeanor equivalent to a traffic ticket... Will this show up on like background checks?

You lucked out man, seriously. Staying calm and being truthfull helped out a lot I am sure, I had a case where I did the same thing in a bestbuy parkin lot, then me and my friend heard tires screach and we looked and a white car with a big anttena was coming at us, so we just booked it behind the building, ran to the family fitness place, and called a ride from there, we got really lucky too.

I would of kicked them in the nutz...

haha for some reason while reading this story i imagine the cop to be like Farva from super trooper and flipping out thinking to himself "finally! i get to bust some criminals!!!" then he calls the state trooper and the trooper is all like "you want me to drive way the fuck down there for what?!" the trooper gets all mad at him than the Farva like cop lets you guys go and goes and cries in his car.... haha either that or he took your 1/4 and pipes and went in his car and got really fucking ripped, than logged it into evidence as an 1/8th

This kind of stuff wouldn't happen in Cali.

Yeah that probably wouldn't happen here in new england...especially the waiting part. They might take the weed...but maybe even let you keep the pipe.

Actually this past Friday..I see all these flashing lights outside. Some guy was pulled over...two cop cars. One cop was searching through his car...finds what looked like at least an ounce. (The whole time I'm just looking out the window haha...saying to myself 'aww spare the weed'). "Is there anything else in the car". "Nope". They tell him to just wait in his car while they look for warrants. None. Cops leave...guy leaves. Just took the weed. He had a nice Lex too...so I'm sure he just went and picked up some more.

Parph. charges, at least in my state, are pretty tame compared to what comes in the courts here...

Hah, my sister has a traffic court date on the 20th, she was caught speeding in the same spot as my brother and I, doing the same speed. I got off with PBJ.

Hopefully you'll do fine! Kudos for keeping a level head, and not bashing the "fuckin' pigs" that many on the board seem eager to do.

Thanks for all the responses. Im not really mad since I got so lucky, but it pisses me off that he tried to hand us to a state trooper before letting us go. Teasing us and shit..that was a dick move of him. He also said if we try to fight, he is a good friend of the judge and the judge would make us pick up trash and shit.

so the countdown begins 21 days, 8 hours to go

and to 2600Hertz, he didnt state anything on the ticket besides "drug paraphernalia"..theres something in parenthesis next to it, but fucking A, he has the worst handwriting ever and its too hard to read on the copy he gave me.


EDIT!: I just noticed my join date for cannabis.com is Feb-20-2006. How ironic that my court date is exactly 1 year later.
