Hey Guys,
I'm new to the growing thing. This is my first attempt. Its going pretty well The are flowering, but my problem is I don't know what variety of weed plant it is. I know that there are like a buillion different kinds.... where do i go to identify it...
it's really really hard to identify a pot plant (maybe even impossible). At the very best, we could identify what species it is (either cannabis sativa or cannabis indica)... There are some plants with really specific features tho, so try posting a pic and see if anyone knows what it is...it's a long shot but if you ended up with a unique strain someone may know what it is.
Here is a picture of my babies. I'm new to this whole thing so I don't really know what the difference is between sativa and indica. I'm reading these post and most you cats sound like straight botanists... this crazy... LOL.
Looks like you got a sativa to me, or at least a hybrid with sativa dominant traits. Good luck brother. Whats with the dead leaves, is that a differant plant or are your babies sick or something. Talk to us, I'm sure some one here can help you make those babies pop.

Whats the difference between sativa and Indica? That is actually 3 females in one large Pot. I'm kinda of growing them "non-traditionlly" They are indoors but I'm using natural light. Also I am in Jersey so its winter here, and the part of my house where they are located doesn't get heated very well so i'm using a space heater to keep the temp up to around 70 degrees.
This is by no means a proffessional grow set up. I found some seeds and figured "hey let me plant these and see if they grow".... and they did. The plants are about 3 feet high, and they started flowering about 3-4 weeks ago. I'm not sure when I should harvest or even how to do it when the time comes... I would really appreciate some guidance.
Its funny cuz I'm not really growing these for profit. Its kind of a way to curb my spending... I'll probably save something like $200 a month by growing my own....lol.

You could get lucky and get a strain with a distinct odour that you can identify. But even then you can't be sure it isn't a cross with something else as well! Good luck! :jointsmile:
did you say you have all your plants in one pot??
Well no I don't jhave all of them in one pot. I started growing some plants around October and they are in One huge pot... about 3 of them. I have 3 other plants all in there own pots.
No one is telling me whats the difference between Sativa and indica. Whats up? Focus people!... LOL

Those threads are about the differing highs. With regard to growing sativas grow taller with thinner fingers on their leaves whereas indicas grow stouter with fatter fingers on the leaves. Once you consider the height the width of the fingers makes sense because they're tailored for maximum light penetration. I don't know why they differ but they go hand in hand like that.
Pretty much everything you come across is a hybrid, usually in favour of indica, because few people want to grow a pure sativa indoors. Some seed sites will tell you what % indica and sativa the strain is.

Very helpful... Thanx. Here are some new pics of my baby girls. I was wondering if anyone would now how long it looks like until harvest time.
at least 6-8weeks but of course that is strain dependent. also i'm not sure if it takes longer to flower using only natural light as i am an indoor (hps) grower. they look to be very early in flower to me. the quickest indica strains are around 42-45 days from the start of 12/12 to finish to some pure sativas that can take well over 100 days to finish. good luck
It is harder to tell when the photos include more than one plant.
If original plant was an indica/sativa mix, you can still get some seeds that grow more indica-dominant and some sativa-dominant.
If these seeds are all from the same bud (not just the same bag, as sometimes you'll get different plants in one bag!), it was definitely an indica/sativa mix.
I've attached photos of a pure indica & a pure sativa for reference, and then marked color-coded areas from your photos that show where I see the respective traits.
