SEEDS?!? and no male in site... what the???
well I have been harvesting a few buds early and I have gotten a few seeds. I pulled the males like real early and cut them at the ground and threw them away. It's definatey not a hermie, there are no male pods anywhere, and the main kola is like 15" and as fat as my wrist. buds all over thick and juicy:jointsmile: is this normal.....
also, how long does it take to get to 50 - 70% dried pistels, mine are still white and fat, it's reaching its harvest date and only about 5% are orange?
it's been like this for over a week and haven't noticed much growth or change in color? am I being impatient?
thanks peeps.....

it may have kicked a nanna or two, but a couple of seeds is nothing to fret over, if anything, it could be a pleasant surprise ;)
your pistils will help idicate that the plant is almost finished. what do your trichs look like? and also, harvest dates are cool, but can be off by several weeks, especially for late bloomers...

thanks kp,
but are the seed viable without a male to fertilize. I would think that the seeds would be sterile.
as far as the trics are looking, ? need to get a mag glass.
by the eye they are looking alittle more crystalised, progressing from small hair like. smells are also very mild, the cabinet that I have it in very sealed and I would asume that at this time the oder would overwelm when i opened the door, but maybe not for just one plant at only 30".

seeds are a result of fertilization...they don't show up first and then get fertilized. so no, the seeds won't be sterile, unless they're immature (small, green and soft as opposed to being dark, larger and hard).
As for harvest, your plants will probably take at least a week longer than the seed store said. You really need to get a magnifying glass right now, because pistil color is NOT an indication of when the plant is ready to harvest. You will want a 30x microscope. You can probably pick one up for around 10 dollars.

used my camera lens, it actually worked.... the trics are still juicy

they are still clear, they are supposed to turn brown right?
SEEDS?!? and no male in site... what the???
i read some other posts KP and i got the answer i was looking for, thanks kp
only thing i don't think the camera lens gets in well enough, they all still look clear, some milky trics are present but non are amber yet
back to the seed questions, I pulled another sample bud and it looks like i'm getting alot of seeds (which is great) but how did they get there
the main kola is huge and it looks like the smaller buds are seeding. if I pulled all males how did they get polinated. are males throwing pollen from day 1.
and then that had to mean that the male pollen was present in the air for awhile, right???

its what kp was saying, towards the end of a harvest the plant knows its about to die and will give effort to make sure life goes on after the plant, so your plant produced a male bananna in a last effort to keep life going. that bananna spread its pollen and seeded your plant.......this happens often towards the end of a harvest

the buds usually aren't very strong smelling until after drying and while curing. I assume it's because as the thc becomes non-acidic and psychoactive, the skunky smell is released.
I'm usually annoyed by random seeds that come from asexual reproduction, and I can't bring myself to try to germinate one, but I hear that they are more likely to be female.

ya, as long as the seeds are good... it will same some funds, and the hassles of buying them mail order from europe....
damn i already got like 2 doz and most of them are big and green

Quite often a female will produce a seed or two which doesn't make it a hermie but does mean it had a male flower early in its life, or one nearby from another plant. Or possibly you transported a bit of pollen in from a friend's grow...but no matter. If it came from a self-induced pollination I would save them and grow with the next batch as the few I have gotten over the years have always been female when grown out. You'll know when the seed's ripe by watching for the pod to split but do not use it as a judge on when to harvest. These seeds usually happen very early in the plant's life and are in no way connceted with the timing of the crop.

You have to pull the males really early, as I found out. They DO flower from day one, they don't need 12/12 lighting. Also, like Madeline said, some females produce only one male flower so it's easy to go undetected amongst all the budding taking place. It sucks, but hey, seeds are fun too!

thanks all, well i can always use some more seeds as long as they're good.
I thought i pulled the males early, but obviously did'nt get all the pollen....
