is anyone watching bush's state of the union adress totally stoned and thinking its the funniest shit ever?
lol:smokin:
why was it funny?
i watched it, and it seemed extremely polished...whoever wrote it did a good job. what i'm trying to say is that it seemed very used carsalesmanish like bush was trying to make us forget about the last six years.
I watched. I'm not a fan of Bush, but it was a decent address. The first third of it was kinda all "I'm a Republican, and I'm gonna do Republican things." But he had some nice environmental initiatives (based upon reducing our dependence on oil), good notions on continued medical support to Africa, and no mention of the "War on Drugs." *chuckle*
I also watched his recent speech on the new plan for Iraq. I personally wish we'd never gone over there, and wish for our troops to return home as soon as possible, but I think this new plan is a sound one. I think it would be ill-advised for us to bail out now, and I think that passing more responsibilities on to the Iraqi government, military, and people is something we should have done a long time ago, but better late than never.
I wish I'd been stoned when I watched it... *grin*
i dont know, now that i look back i cant remember what was so funny about it but he talked way too much about terrorism and then it got boring
I was definitely tokin a bowl during the sotu and all the while aghast as the entire senate and congress stood up and uproariously applauded every 2 fuckin minutes at dubbya's broken promises... they actually think he's gonna follow through? so that got me thinking (as pot so often does) if the fat suits really agreed with dubbya or if there's an unspoken (or spoken) rule to agree with everything the president says to portray unity and compliance which is intended to sway the American audience watching. pretty fucked up if you ask me. i will, however, say that the prevented terrorist attacks he mentioned (if these weren't exagerrated) were pretty affective on the issue of the war against terror (which shouldn't be confused with Iraq) b/c i for one can't imagine how awful it would be for a plane to explode over the atlantic or another anthrax attack.
:rastasmoke:Obama '08!!!!
i already made a post on this that expresses my feelings on the whole thing... i'm sick of 'em... i don't care to hear them anymore... i think bush is now just trying to not go down as the worst president in history... after 6 years... and over a year with oil/gasoline problems/prices he's just now (when he's for sure getting kicked out) going to try and take control of the whole thing? c'mon now....
on a side note, not to sound racists or sexists... whoever the 'white guy' that's going to be running against obama (i guess is his name by the above post lol) and hilary... is nearly garunteed presidency... i will actually be shocked if a woman or a black man wins presidency... like i said, nothing sexist or racists meant by it... by you have to consider what the 'majority' of voters feel... and personally, i don't feel they're going to vote for anything new... hell, white men have been screwing up this country since it began, what makes you think the voters are going to change anything when the white men are doing so good?
Whos - The channel I watched (NBC) kept most of the camera angles on the Republican side of the house, where the applauders sat.
But everybody clapped for the female Speaker, for the troops, and for the "American Heros" in the gallery.
And yeah, SotU promises are fickle. Only about 2.5 out of last year's 7 have been attempted. *chuckle*
Change baby! That's what will bring Hillary in as our next Pres. (with Obama as V.P.?) The thing is...the fat cat "White Men" have NOT been doing good. It's time for change and as more and more Boomers replace the old guard that is slowly dying out, more change will happen. Too many minds have been (and continue to be) expanded to continue to buy into the boloney. The winds of change are shifting.
Clinton '08.......take it to the bank.
Bush is full of poop and whenever he talks, he talks about poo.
I watched it while stoned. The whole time it seemed like he was talking in a very grand way (if that makes any sense). It really felt like he was trying really hard to sell something
I watched it for 10 seconds, and changed the channel.
No, I didn't watch it, but, it DID interupt the time when That 70's Show comes on. I was actually going to watch it, but, what's that I see on TV: It's equivelant to a primate babbling on TV, banging on their chest.
lol don't you just love how they have to interupt as many channels as possible with that crap?
Haha, there HAVE been Presidents worse than Bush, believe it or not.
So, it COULD be worse. ~
bush very well may be the worst president ever. really that is a matter of opinion. i watched the address, and i actually have to say i was impressed, bush had some good ideas and even more impressive he spoke in public and didnt make a fool of himself. now to see if he follows through on any of what he said
Keep in mind, it's Bush's SPEECHWRITERS writing his speech. Any ideas, with the exception of stuff like "Change the word 'because' to 'due to'- makes me sound more smarter" is the speechwriters words pushing the "ideas" of Bush in a more euphonic (albiet less humorous) way.
I'd really like Obama to be pres... although he's a Dem, and oddly enough conservative, he seems like he's smack in the middle of things and has a very level head on his shoulders.
It'd be kind of abstract, because all of our past presidents names were like "John Smith" and "William Adams" and plain stuff like that. Than BAM! Out of the blue comes "Barack Obama." I like it!
I don't want him to win because he's black, don't want Hilary to win because she's a woman, but I want either to win because it will be a MUCH better change for our nation, and although each has his/her issues, they both have a good political team behind them.
For starters, President James Buchanan had a chance to make a decision that would have ulitimately stopped the Civil War from ever happening, and did nothing.Quote:

i dont know what you mean about obama being oddly conservative, he is more liberal than the average democrat:cool:
I watched part of it, and got sick of it. He (or at least his team of speechwriters) seems to think the world is full of terrorists who are, for some inconceivable reason, insanely jealous of freedom and therefore want to kill anybody who has any. He completely ignores the real religious and political reasons behind radical Islamic terrorism and consequently cannot come up with any better solution than to drop bombs on a whole bunch of people and then hope that some of them are terrorists and that the massacre somehow won't just spawn a new generation of super-pissed-off terrorists. I simply can't listen to that kind of inane bullcrap, so I had to turn it off.
funny thing is you are doing exactly what you are accusing him of, which is to say not really listening or bothering to learn. he spent about 15 minutes of a near hour long speech on that, it wasnt the whole speech. i hate bush but had you actually watched the speech he didnt get into to tlaking about the war till about 15 twenty minutes into it. i hate the guy but you have to give people a fair chance, it actually seemd this time like he was reaching out and trying to explain why he was doing it(which i dont agree with anyhow) rather than just saying im doing it they hate freedom. though i do agree with you totally on him saying islamic terrorism is about freedom hating. though he isnt entirely wrongthere, they arent fans of it, if they were they probably wouldnt h ave women where black shrouds covering them from head to toe. anyhow like i said i agree with your point but there was more to the speech than him saying the same shit over and over again
Yes, I do hate it. I'll flip through 40 different channels, and of 10 of them will have him talking. They all seem to take over my favorite ones. Funny how that happens. Oh well, just another one of gods dirty little tricks.Quote:

The country is too volatile right now and America is very apprehensive about change. As much as I would love to see a change in the leadership of this country.....I doubt it's gonna happen with our current state.Quote:
