none of my dremel bits work on this rock for some reason...well...they do...but very ineffectively.....does anybody know what dremel bit would make short work of these without breaking them?i need the circumfrence of the hole to be at least 2 centimeters.
im planning on putting these beads into my hair, but i need to drill them out first.
would a diamond bit work?
how much do those run for?
look for a 3/4 " masonry drill bit... i havn't seen many masonry bits for a dremel though. try using a lubricant when drilling to lower the temp so you wont wear out or break the bit as quickly. id estimate 5-12 USD for a masonry drill bit. good luck..
sweet, thanks. im not worried about breaking the drill bits, i dont wanna break the rock. it cost me pretty penny. $8 for the round one and $5 for the small one

A Dremel is a sort of grinding/polishing/drilling tool. It's the tool with the motor that holds the bits and heads that do the actual work. They make all sorts of Dremel tools. They even make one that grinds away toenails on pets.

i found a cool diamond bit set online, just gotta go to the hardware store sometime and ask them about it.
this is seriously some hard rock, i spent 2 hours yesterday drilling at it and i made it only a few millimeters into the damn thing.
Dremel and Rotozip have a tile bit that would be great for that...
its so cool, id post pics of them but my camera is so shitty it wouldnt do them any justice at all.

Just go to your local home improvement store, and go to where they sell ceramic tile. With the ceramic tile tools, you should see tile drill bits. They should drill though the hardest stones with relative ease. I would use them in a regular drill though, because if your dremels speed is too high, the bit will get very hot, and lose it's temper, and break. Drilling in the sink with cool water dripping on the rock and the bit will prevent this entirerly. Hope this helps! Np... I have always enjoyed your posts. If it is possible, like I said, drill it under running water, It will keep the bit cool, the stone cool, and wash the debris from the drill hole.

dremels are the SHIT. but dont drill with them, use a regular drill
