So I am taking no break after harvesting my last grow and I am going straight into my second grow with a 24 plant, 5 strain grow. I am thinking about kind of doing it like a SOG grow due to the fact i had 17 plants last time and ran out of room. i hope this grow is as successfull as my last grow and cant wait to find out.
My plant count holds
8 White Widdow
7 Train Wreck
3 Af Goo
2 GodBud x G13
4 Super Silver Haze
I have them about five feet under 2 1000w lights with Metal Halide bulbs. Im using Ocean Forest soil by FoxFarm with an Organics Alive mixture. looking forward to seeing some new growth soon as i am going for a short veg period. here are some pics. questions and comments appreciated!

Your setup is very clean and looks great.
I would like to suggest a more efficient use of your light however!
At this point, a lot of light is hitting the floor, as your pots are spaced too widely.
You would do well to clump them all up together and lower your lights so the lumens per sqft are maximized in the growing area.
Then later, as your babies get bushy (as I know they will! You seem to take great care of your plants!), you can spread them out a bit, raise the lights, etc.
If you want to get really neurotic about saving lumens, you could try sprinkling a layer app. 1 cm thick of perlite on the surface of the soil. It will relfect light that would otherwise be absorbed by the dark soil, and wOOt! prevent stupid thrips and shit thinking it's a great place to lay eggs.
Look under advanced in the 'supercropping' thread... I went into a little detail about pot spacing there I think.

santacruz...saw the pics from the end of your last stuff...man looks absolutely great. I remember the minimum you said youd be happy with and looks like that is well surpassed for suuure.
New stuff is looking great too. Stinky has some great advice. 2nd indoor grow is always better.
PS. Are those TW the ones I remember?

Thanx for the advice stinky. the reason the lights are so high is because they are just rooted clones comeing from flourecents. once i see growth i will lower my lights for shure. last grow i got my lights as close as a foot above my plants!

Looks good Organic! We will have to do a clone trade sometime in the future, looks like you are already kind of set up and ready to go. If I could get my hands on a few within a week would that help you? Let me know bro.

P.S Still a newbie, but you could conserve lumens, space, and energy by starting those clones up in smaller pots and maybe just put them under some CFL's. Curious what your reasons behind starting them in the 3 gallon pots are. See ya

That is exactly right. Did you see the supercropping thread in advanced? What you just described is standard practice at commercial greenhouses.

well what i have noticed is that transplanting is not necesarry. some will definately argue with this one. since i am only going to veg for a couple weeks it would be pointless to have them in 1gal. buckets for a week and then transplant them. in my opinion, it is a waste of soil, time, and effort to go from clones to small pot, to large pot. this is only IF YOU HAVE ONE ROOM. if you have a seperate veg room it is somtimes very legitimate to have smaller pots so you can fit more in but is not my case right now.
Alot of growers choose to transplant right before they start flowering but if their plants are in shock from the transplant it will effect the bud production.
By transplanting straight into the soil my plants are going to spend their life in i wont be affecting the roots by transplanting and i can switch to flowering sooner. this is why i skip the preliminary transplant to a smaller pot before going to a bigger one. comments aprecciated.

Hey, SC. Looks like you got your stuff down to a science, man. I was keeping up with your other thread, and you just seemed to be running smoothly. I don't remember seeing you finish up. Any harvest pics?
Well, this next one looks just as good and clean as the last one. I like the one room system. Looks effective.
Do you purchase your clones or cut them yourself? Reason why I ask this is because I would like to figure out the timing of cutting clones so they don't turn into monsters before you're ready to flower them. If you buy them, disregard this question. I'll figure it out. :)
So you're gonna veg them for a couple weeks, then flip 'em, right? Is that what you did in your last grow? I'll have to go back and review it.
Good luck, bro. Toke up.

Edit: OH, one more thing. I love that Ganja Farmer song. I got it cued up now.

yo whats up fog, my harvest pics are on my old SSH UPDATE grow log.
as for clones, i cut all my own. what i do is i will cut clones for a grow a week before i switch to flowering. after i cut my clones ( about six) i grow them for the remaining month or two of flowering. during this month i LST and bush them out. then right before i am about to harvest my flowering plants i go through and do a second cloning session and will grab like ten clones of each plant. by the time they are rooted i have already switched my lights to MH, cleaned out the room, and bought soil for my next grow. its a great way to save strains.
as for veging time last grow it was like 5 or 6 weeks... way to long. this time it will be a lot shorter.

I see...thanks, man. That's a good system. So then you trash the ones you took the 10 clones off, right? So, I suppose this means you don't keep mothers...? Where do you veg these plants while you're flowering them? You must have a veg room somewhere then.
So, if you don't use mothers...these would be 'generational' clones, right? Reason why I bring this up is that I'm curious of the quality of the clones as you go generation to generation...
And then these clones are going to veg for a couple more weeks then you will clone them 1 week before flipping?
Sorry if I'm still asking so many questions. I'm just trying to understand it all. :D

Let me break it down. in this grow im doing i have 24 plants. i will take one cutting of each plant until i feel satisfied (about 6 cuttings). i take the cutting from the lowest branch on the plant since i will probably be getting rid of that branch any ways. now i have six cuttings and i know atleast half of theese will root. lets say 4 cuttings out of 6 rooted. i take theese 4 cuttings and grow them into mother plants which will give of about ten cuttings from each plant. i spend the time my other plants are in flowering growing theese clones into mothers. i grow theese mothers under 3 80w flourecents in my closet. once i am about to harvest my flowering plants i take cuttings from theese 4 mothers in hopes to get 40 cuttings while my weed is drying my new 40 clones are rooting. you can also just keep a couple for mothers so you dont have to take cuttings off of your plants. the problem with this is that they get really big and i find my self running out of room.
-
WhiteWiddow~Afgoo~SSH~TrainWreck~GodBudxG13
Ok, that makes sense. You didn't answer all my questions tho. :) What do you do with these 'mothers' once you're done taking the 10 clones off of them? Dump them...then create more temporary mothers next cycle?
I think this is your first grow, right, so I guess you don't USUALLY do anything, but what do you PLAN on doing?
And who has any information/experience about continually cloning plants ina multi-generational sense...I would think this would eliminate the need to maintain mothers...but would the quality/stability of the strain drop at all??? Stinky? Bear? Anyone? ;)
Thanks. Be cool. Like my new avatar or should I go back to the calyx one?

toss the mothers after you clone them. and i do have experience cloning. the white widdows in my grow are 4th Generation clones and i actually cloned theese plants when the mothers were not even a foot tall.
-
WhiteWiddow~Afgoo~SSH~TrainWreck~GodBudxG13
Sweet job Cruz! I cant find the thread, but you also can grow "bonsai mothers" which are really small but produce a ton of clones. I havent personally done it myself, but I read alot about it somewhere on this site. Can anyone direct him, I forgot where I read it?

All About Bonsai Moms
My dawg BlueBear posted it.
'My' mother is not exactly what you would call bonsai...but it aspires to be. An 8" x 8" mum that could churn out as many clones as they say would be choice.
They get FAT stalks, though. :smokin:

Thanks Fog. Maybe that will help Cruz out. By the way Cruz, your bud is a straight up creeper dude! I was high as fuck talking to that cop, and then was stoned for the three hours proceeding that. Are you satisfied with the potency? What was the final weigh in? Give you a call soon to meet up again and toast one down!

Plants just showed signs of growth, going to start watering with a little bit of super thrive in the mix to get them going untill i can start feeding them.

Cool Cruz, looking good man! SuperThrive kicks ass huh? I am over five weeks into flower, things are looking swell so far bro - hope my results are as good as yours. I will be keeping an eye on your thread for sure. I also made a post in Basic Growing entitled Hydro Flushing...I know you don't do Hydro but it really isn't too specific to hydro, more so people who are not working in a garage and can't just flush the waste water into a drain. Curious what you think. Enjoy!

Tons of growth. Start giving those babies some nutes, don't ya think? I am almost seven weeks in now SantaCruz, will be in touch about those clones real soon. You have room to cut me like 15 and root em for me this way I can throw them right into the SunShine? Would kick ya a phat sack for doing so. Thanks bro and hope all is well!

I would like the White Widows if possible, but I also kind of want something that will finish up quicker than my Diesel (9-10 weeks) I think Widow is about the same right. Do you have any quick finishers? I guess it's not the end of the world to grow two strains that take ten weeks, but you end up losing a full cycle over the course of a year compared to a 8-9 week strain. What would you suggest? Have heard AfGoo is a small yielder, the SSH you grew was real dank so I could do that too.

Keep up the nice work!!!

WhiteWiddow~Afgoo~SSH~TrainWreck~GodBudxG13
Could be wrong, but I believe he stated he was vegging under a thousand watt lamp. Looks real good Cruz, things are moving real quickly. Obviously you have alot of straings, are most of em completely different sizes? Looks like a fair amount of variance. Have you needed to adjust nutrient strengths much due to the different straings? Probably not because you aren't feeding them a very high PPM just yet right? Can't wait to see all the different types of bud mature in your grow. I gotta update mine soon, they are 7.5 weeks into flower and bulking up big time. Great work buddy, keep it up!

wow santa cruz. everytime I see pics of em they have doubled in size. You going to tie down those big guys? Ive recently found that that Trainwreck doesnt like to be directly under the light. If you can stick it on the outside and exchange it with a hardier indica that can take more light, I think youll be more happy. They seem especially susceptible. Ive been experimenting and getting better results with the light farther away. Otherwise looks great. I just threw some White Widow and Super Silver Haze into one of my flower rooms. Not enough room for mothers.
