R.I.P. Holly.. i loved you..

dammit today sucked.. my mom loves dogs and she found a stray running on a very busy street so she picked her up... my mom puts an ad in the paper for a lost dog and we get no calls.. the dog isnt spayed and my mom believes very much in spaying animals and shit so that they dont reproduce because there are already way to many dogs.. so she sets up an appointment for today.. she takes the dog to the vet and the dog is happy, my mom is happy, she feels really good about it and the dog isnt scared or anything.. so 8:30 comes along and they call my mom saying everything is great and they are going to start the surgery.. so i guess they put her under and around 10:30 my mom gets a call and the vet says they have very bad news, and its that the dogs heart stopped and she passed away... i feel really bad for my mom cuz she is blaming herself when all she was tryin to do is help the dog out and it turned out bad... holly was the dogs name and she was a very nice dog, loved everyone and altho we only had her about a month i connected with this dog very much and so did my mom and my mom feels terrible about it, and i feel terrible for my mom feeling that way and that the dog died.. sorry for this rant, i just wanted to get this off of my chest.. at least holly went in peace and wasnt in pain...

Your MOM has a big Hart......you guys took that dog into your house and loved it..... she loved you too...

i saw your thread and decided to write this one... and im gonna say that if you loved your dog a lot and treated her nicely then she will probably remember you.. and even if she wont its still nice to think so.. thanks for comments guys.. and bong for sure i will, my mom and i always try to help out dogs if we can..

Pets are great companions and you get so attacked so easily. I found a pup somone dumped off at a cemetary in va. We turned around and went back and he had fell over the side of the mountain and was stuck in a pile of leaves. I went down and got him and we took him all the way home to nc. I made a appointment for his shots and right before it he came down with parvo. Since it was the weekend I drove over a hour to a emergancy vet and in all it costed about 600 to bring him out of it.
Im so sorry to hear that bud and just keep telling you mom she was doing the right thing and that at least holly had a good loving home before she died.

awww this type of stuff makes me feel so depressed, but i feel you man, i had to have my dog put to sleep about a month ago because his hips were so bad he couldnt even walk around anymore, it was especially sad because we have another dog who grew up with the one we had put down and it made him really depressed and hes just not the same anymore.

ya pets are very hard to lose... im just surprised it happened... never thought it would happen and i never thought id be this attached to a dog that we didnt have to long... another thing is that i never said bye to her... dammit i hate that...

She did what she thought was best,,,it's not her fault the Vet fucked up...

When I had my cats spayed I worried like fuk till like a week afterward... People die going under anaesthesia,,,it is not a perfect sience... Imagine going to the dentist and not coming out,,,it happens...

im not even sure the vet fucked up.. im not gonna blame anybody.. i guess it was just holly's time... i just sure wish it wasnt... and it does happen but it still fucking sucks that it does... :(

I am so very sorry to hear this happened to you beloved Holly. :(
Sometimes...just sometimes, one of our precious pups doesn't survive anesthesia. It's more unusual then usual....maybe 3-350 but that's a rough stat.and still unacceptable as far as I'm concerned.:(
We love our animals and we pay very high prices to feed them and take them to the vet so we're doing the right thing for them. Just like your mom did. She was doing the responsible thing and unfortunately, things went as badly as they could have. It's a shame. I feel for you all.

Please consider going to aa no kill shelter where the pups are already spayed and neutered and just looking for someone to love them.

I'm so sorry. It's so hard to lose our best friends, the ones we can always depend on.
And I'm sure your other dog is in mourning the way he knows how to do it. We are very worried here as well about this very issue. We have a mother and son very close in age. The moms hips are already showing signs of ill. We are very frightened as we consider her our daughter. They are a huge part of our lives and I'm going to break when the time comes I hope we're able to comfort the surviving one properly. Us adults will be needing comfort too.:(

So sorry about Holly, Budsmoker. That breaks my heart for you. I know how attached people can get to their pets, even in a short time. They're like babies. Is there any hope you can get another pretty soon? That was really nice that y'all were trying to get her fixed so she didn't add to the surplus animal population.

That anesthesia story scares me. I have a nine-year-old dog, Daisy, who's my little darling baby. And she needs to be taken in to have her teeth cleaned, which they do under anesthesia. I've been putting off taking her in. And now I want to blow it off completely. I truly would need to be hospitalized if anything ever happened to Daisy. Tootsie or anyone else, is there any reassurance y'all can provide? Is that 3/350 pet anesthesia mortality record accurate? That's so scary that I don't think I can consider it!

I read this thread last night but I didn't have the time to post. I just wanted to give you a huge (((((HUG))))), BudSmoker. I think you're a real decent guy. I'm really sorry about your loss.

i just noticed something.. you put loveD, don't you still love her?

That fucking happened to my cat that was the bomb. Her name was Buckeye, we toke her to get spayed and she had a heart problem and died. First pet the vet had ever lost, is how they say it I guess. When we got her son, whose now our cat spayed we got him a kitty catheter (Spelling?) so if something went wrong they would be right at a big vein to fix the problem. All is well with the younger cat to bad BUckeye died :(.

i can feel for you on that, i had a dog for 16 years of my life and when he died it was like part of my life was deleted, its very fuckin depressing because you can get so bonded with it and then its just gone. hope you can get through it all good.

ya im getting through it fine... i still get sad every now and then but my mom is really sad about it... and it was nice the place where my mom took her gave her flowers and an urn because holly was cremated... and to birdgirl this is the first time that i had ever heard of this happening... idk tho if you dont feel right about it id say dont do it... and yes i put loved but of course i still love her.. it was just a mistake.. and once again thanks everyone for your kind words...
