your best bet.~.my northern mullet loving friend~. would be to get some crates or plastic tubs..like 2' by 2' ~oh yeah you do the metric systym~..well i am sure you can google the metric conversion.~.my little eskimo amigo~ fill the containers with slush..~snow and water~ and let them sit over night.... this will be needed unless you have 5' of snow you can saw out chunks of.....anyway in the morning~after you check your ice fishing holes~ start cutting your snow blocks out of there molds and stack them like an igloo..~ like your forefathers did..and current residents of saskatchewan~ once you stack enough for your igloo dome shape with your trusty boyscout pack saw ...for the fine detail....then use ice slush for mortor......now go inside and hybernate and wish your ass lived in america....
damn canadians:jointsmile:

What you want is a quinzee. Pile snow up in a mound, as big as you want/can make it. Let it sit there for about an hour or more (overnight is best) so it can settle. Then, hollow it out. You have to start at the VERY BOTTOM and dig inward, right against the ground if you can, and tunnel to the centre, then hollow it out from within. Do this right, and you'll have a perfect little snow fort. You can cover up the entrance with a tarp or more snow, and if you want cut a chimmney vent somewhere in the top.
This site seems to have a devent description...
Quinzee - (aka-Snow Cave)
It may sound slightly complicated, but me and my friends used to dig these in our back yards and school snow banks (in the parking lot), it's really quite simple, and they stay warm easily. In grade 10 I camped for two nights in a Quinzee. So...
build one.
fucking awesome man! i cant wait to make one.... and hotbox it althought i smoked a shit load one day and tried to make an igloo and almost finished it... all the time building it being high as shit lol no joke... :rastasmoke:  ( who said weed make you lazy? well some times lol but not all the time ;) )
Wow, looks like alot of snow... wherabouts in Canada are you?
I just wanted to say I LOVE this thread!
It reminds me of being a kid in New England, back when we actually got snow...building forts with the other kids... snowball fights (before they become not politically correct)... I'm too old to build a fort in the yard without my neighbors being totally weirded out... I mean, damn, I found my first grey hair, but I STILL want to come over and hotbox that snow hut with you!!! lol
I am in Whistler and stinky its never to late in life to build and hotbox an igloo in life
haha yeah lets all meet up in alberta or something and make kick ass hotbox-snow-forts!!!!!!!
we'd all get arrested by the grownup police for being a bunch of adults having too good a time that did not involve the super bowl or st. patrick's day. adulthood is supposed to be miserable and un-fun. wtf is wrong with you people! go sit in your cubicles and stagnate already!!!!Quote:

I've even played fiddle on the Hibernians' float in the Holyoke parade, although I don't remember all that much of it, lol!
But yeah, the Celtic music scene in Massachusetts is killer. Almost any night of the week I can drive less than an hour and find a good seisun (urrr I can't spell) at a decent bar. There's at least 3 just in my local area; only one is worth a damn, the others are snobby, but the group that I play with has been more or less together for at least 15 years with the same core musicians, and on a good night, there's too many of us and we have to switch off and take turns sitting out and watching! And drinking beer. And Jamesons. hahaha
Oh sorry thought you were from Canada.
Everybody wants to be Irish :D
Do ye all still like the Irish over there was thinking about going over with my woman on a holiday.
Where, in Canada or Massachusetts?
Go to Boston. You'll fit right in.
Yo man good idea, lol, actually im pretty sure the eskimos use big chunks of snow building it up all around and then leave a hole on the top, they let the rest harden and get solid and then they get another big chunk and cover the hole lastly.. i was bored one day.. blaze on.
I just toke in my bedroom in front of the tv.....
I've hotboxed an igloo... We just made a big pile of snow and got some sticks about 8 inches long and stuck them in from the top, we let it sit for a while and then started to dig it out until we reached the other end of the sticks. That's pretty much it. (the sticks are so u know how thick the roof and walls are)
you fucking canandians.....wow so much time on your hands. now go drink 15 molson xxx and get crunked. then stop by tim hortons on your arctic cat eh?!!!!! grab a chili breadbowl and eat it in your snow cave and smoke some beasties. did i just describe a typical saturday night?
INVADE CANADA!!!!!
Okay yeag this is a problem... I'm worried about your lack of acceptance for our local customs in western massachusetts....Quote:

And we now have a PERFECT Western MA/ Pioneer valley Saturday night.
Awwwwww we are all so similar on the inside, group hug!!!!
And I swear that pic of the cherokee all covered with mud could be my neighbor down the street 'cept that his is black and even dirtier.
build a quincy enstead, a hollowed out mound of snow is far sufficent to anything those freaking eskimos can make.
hahaha are some people actually taking this thread seriously? (i hope not :stoned: ) lol
lol I hope so [not?] too... durr... that makes no sense... but it's one of the funnier threads in recent memory!
Well I hope you know I took this thread seriously lol.... didnt you see the almost finished igloo I built? I did try to to make a quinsee but I could not find a huge pile of snow ... well I could but it was too far of a walk to bring a shovel with me and I would not know what would happen if I brought a shovel with me on the ski lift and some bud in my pocket to go make a lil snow fort place to smoke on the mountain. Then I decided to make a quinsee by placing a whole bunch of snow in one big pile... but fuck,....... it was to much work by my self and needed some help... and did not know any other pot head who would like to smoke a few joints and help me pile up snow.... so what ever... lolQuote:

you need to be way up north to find thick enough ice to cut through and have big blocks
it takes a long time to build an igloo
i hot boxt a Quincy  it tript the fuck out of me i thot the roof was going to cave in lol:bigsmoke::S2:
lmao tight idea
google it
I'm in New Brunswick we just got a bunch of snow I'm so building a fort in my backyard, my roomate is going to think I'm insane but fuck him.
1. get your shovel
2. place as much snow into a mound as possible
3. hollow it out and hotbox the shit outta it before it caves in
4. after you are high laugh at you're terrible creation/destroy it
i am truly jealous of all the snow... in houston we pretty much never get snow... last time was december 24th 2004 and i think 10 years before that we had snow and thats pretty much it haha... im coming over right now have the igloo ready
me and my friend tried to do this for that exact purpose, but after 2 hours and 4 joints of building the rain came down before we finished and the roof caved in:( to the shed!
Haha igloos are a lotta fun ;) just cut a bunch f blocks out of snow and set em up so they spiral into a dome. I'd use a machete. My ancestors build those, so have fun with it.
Btw this is my first postâ?¦ so I'm still new to all that posting.
