i cant believe no one replied. TOOL is God's gift to the earth. the best album of theirs is Lateralus.
apc isn't bad, either btw.
Is it true that Maynard, from Tool, is a drag queen? I have nothing whatsoever against drag queens, but I do find it quite funny that a bunch of metal fans rock out to a drag queen. If you haven't heard it yet, Maynard does a duet with Tori Amos on her song Mohammed My Friend and it rocks! There is hope afterall! Peace!
lmfao drag queen,
i have no problem rocking to a drag queen
I hate TOOL. I think I like one song of theirs, but I forgot what it was called. They are really boring to me, and incredibly overrated.
I have all of their stuff from the beginning.
Check them out messing around on German TV:

I went to see Tool in like November, and honestly it was absolutely awesome, I didn't know much of their music except the Lateralus album and the song Aenima but after seeing them i got 10,000 Days which is absolutely awesome. I'm not like a huge metal fan but I love Tool.
ya i love tool
you cant hate tool if you like one of their songs:pQuote:

Maynard a drag queen? haha i cant see that happening. and iv never heard such a thing. wat newspaper do u read lol
tool is fucking amazing!!!!! l
Tool was my favorite band for years. Lateralus has a great nostalgic feel to it now that 10,000 days has been out for a while and I've taken it in repeatedly... I dunno which is my favorite, but I think their three hardest hitting albums have been aenima, lateralus, and 10,000 days. I think Justin (the newest bassist) did wonders for the "Tool" sound.

I understand that Maynard got his start doing stand-up comedy.
I hear that he's friendly with allot of comedians and hangs out with them at those comedy clubs...
As far as a "drag queen"...Have you seen how the guy dresses in concert?
When I last saw TOOL he was wearing nothing but a pair of Speedo's with a shaved head and had painted his entire body blue like a Smurf!:yippee:
reading your other music posts, i think tools guitars arent loud and fast enough for youQuote:

Maynard isn't a drag Queen he just dresses weird. When i saw them he had a fluorecent orange jacket that glowed in the dark and a cowboy hat on.
not even close to bein a drag queen. jus likes to make a statement and be different lol

I've got hundreds of hours of music at my fingertips on my iPod but still I seem to find Tool taking over my 25 most played tracks quite often..
My user name over at cannabis culture forums is actually Rosetta_Stoned
I'm a Maynard addict! Everything of mine is posted with his picture! My myspace is jam packed with his stuff and so is my room. I'm completely obsessed....it's beginning to become unhealthy.

dunno which i like better, the deftones or tool. deftones have a more metal sound whilst tool are more grungy. havnt listened to the deftones in ages and have been listening to tool a lot lately so i guess i like tool better. electric wizard are best of all though.
Tool for me today is like Pink Floyd for the average mid 20's male 30 years ago...
Sunkist and Sudafed/Sun kissed and Psuedo fed
Yeah... you tell me. I'm off to hit the bong
KICK ASS KICK ASS!![quote=Hansel]Agree 100%
tool will always be great. but on lsd listing to (-) Ions and then third eye off of aenima is a major head trip lol
Tool is the most amazing thing that sent vibrations to my eardrums. I listen to them religiously, just look at my display pic. I can't believe that guy who said they're boring. He must be from an island full of vitamin rich cocaine and nympho pornstars or something to find Tool BORING. yeesh. Well anyways they are extremely great musicians and their music comes from the heart. They don't care about fame, artistic music is what they live for and I love them for that.
tool is fucking insane, their music has its own distinct sound. nothing can compare to it
the deftones are my favorite band!Quote:

(had to bump this :])
its worth the bump INDEED. Deftones are my #1 band and Tool is shortly behind them..
Tool has always been my fav band. They really take a unique and spiritual look at music. And alot of their shit goes pretty deep. You know theres different ways of listening to lateralus? Following the Fibonacci sequence (which im not even gonna try to type all out) Which is sort of a mathematical spiral pattern, the track list that lateralus runs on now is different than the band picked. But if you follow the Fibonacci sequence, oooooo jus look it up, it flows nice. Also, time signatures of the main riff in "Lateralus" (9-8-7) also represented a step in the Fibonacci sequence (the sixteenth step, as it turns out, hmmm doesnt A Perfect Circle have a cd named that....). Also Danny Carey, who is an amazing drummer, is an alchemist, so references to that come up alot. Some song lyrics on Lateralus can be interpreted as references to alchemy, especially because the Philosopher's stone often serves as a spiritual metaphor to evolve from a lower state of imperfection and vice (symbolized by the base metals) to a higher state of enlightenment and perfection. References to this spiritual transmutation are:
"Give away the stone. Let the oceans take and transmutate this cold and fated anchor.
Give away the stone. Let the waters kiss and transmutate these leaden grudges into gold." ("The Grudge")
"Black then white are all I see in my infancy, red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me....Lets me see". ("Lateralus")
If seen in this perspective, the part from "Lateralus" can either refer to the four colors of the Philosopher's stone during different phases of creation, or to the colors of the ingredients themselves (i.e. black = mercury, white = salt, yellow = sulphur, red = stone).
And yes, maynard is friends with several comedians. The band greatly admired the late great Bill Hicks, who was a really really great comedian among other things. The whole Ã?nima album has many references to bill hicks through it, not to mention a painting of him on the inside cover. The song Third Eye has a sample of one of his bits in it.
But i feel ive said to much. Breathe.... Breathe..... Look deeper, and open your third eye. Did i mention i like Tool?
The thread that never dies!

The first big concert i went to was when Tool came to Vancouver
:):)
I don't like TOOL for two reasons. One, they focus too much on the lyrical and making it for "bright" people to understand aspect instead of creating good riffs and actual music, so it gets pretty boring. Two, most TOOL fans I've met are pretentious assholes who think that Maynard is God and that if you don't enjoy TOOL or insult them in any way, you are an ignorant scumbag. But, I must say "Sober" and "I Know the Pieces Fit" are both great songs.
It sounds like you hate tool fans more than tool themselves. Is that the problem? Like i know alot of tool fans that arnt like that at all. And naturally when you trash a band someone likes alot, they might be a dick to you, but who knows maby its just the people you know. I wont get into it but if you dont like em cool, if ya do cool as well. It doesnt really matter everyone has their own tastes. And i dont think maynard is GOD, i dont even believe in what you would call a GOD. And its not really for "bright" people whatever you would consider that to be, its just music for people to enjoy, you dont have to get really indepth into the lyrics and all that stuff to enjoy it.:jointsmile:Quote:
