lol 4 got to add pics
more pics
1st 4 pics is our grow setup and the last one is how the plants looked before i put them in the wardrobe
The 1st picture, the plants look really stretched. Were they not under the hps at this point?
yes they have been under hps for nearly 2 days, i took them out to take the pic, i think the light needed to be higher cuz some of the leaves look scorched, yelloie brown an curling
Remove the tinfoil ASAP! It causes heat spots that will crisp your plant before you know it! Do you have a fan? If not, you need one. HID's get hot and the air gets stagnant without circulation. They will also need fresh air coming in at all times. They should stop stretching now that you have them under an HPS. Also, give them some water to help them out a bit during this light transition. Happy Growing and Peace!
cheers for the tip bro dun asap these are the plants right now
Yup, looks like they were too hot. Give them some water....keep them at least 12 inches from your light and that will help them perk back up. (They'll need a little time to recover though.) I'm not an expert but I know heat stress when I see it and hopefully you caught it before it is too late. The fan is a must though! Those 400watters put out some heat plus you'll want your stem nice and phat so your gals can hold more bud. Also they absolutely love fresh air! I'll keep looking in on your girls in the future! Peace!
proglo hit the nail on the head; too much heat... get your temps to 80f max at the canopy.
check out my college link in my sig...
love, kp:p
Updated the grow room (changed it into my walk in closet) has really good ventilation now, adjusted the light so its alot further away from the plants and one of them is looking a little bit better which is good to see, hopefully the other comes round
i would say not enough light . what is the humidty-temp ..it would be a good idea to flush the medium as well
It would not be a good idea to flush right now. I see no defeciency what so ever in those plants.Quote:

Glad to see you switched your set up to get that ever important circulation! Kudos man....I can't wait to keep checkin' up on your girl! Peace!
I'd scrap that plant.... Start all over, you wont loose much time, starting a new seed at this point, wont put you too far behind, and then you wont have to deal with the stressed plant... Live and learn, in your years, you will throw many plants away.
I disagree with the scrapping part, but the start a new one is a good idea.Quote:

...... your plants will be fine, but like anything else, when they get hurt, they have to heal. it sounds like you fixed the problems, now just be patient... they'll come around. DON'T KILL THEM, THERE IS NO REASON TO...
cheers for all the advice guys, it seems to be o.k, i have more pics on my digital camera but windows wont recognise it, most leavs just curled around thmslvs n yello, its still growing new leaves so i think ill let it grow, dosnt bother me too much but thanks 2 proglo i wudnt hav either right now!
Plants temps are normal i think, stay around 25-28C
here the pics i was talking bout, flatm8 had a card reader so i thought that sounded easier!
more pics of grow room!
just noticed these too.....
it looks like there coming around nicely now glad u got the problem storted in time. my only concern is that due to the heat they might turn male or hermie which is somthing i noticed no one mentioned but hey. i no stress can do strange things to plants. but apart from that they look really well hope it goes all right for u. and as for scrapping it i wouldnt dream of it at the worst u can use them to experement on like learning to lst and fimming all the things u need to learn. ne way i'll keep my eye on this thread take care i hope it all goes well peace!
just an update, plant 1 looking good but no improvement in plant 2, their light period is 18/6 atm and i had ben watering them 1ce a day which i now realise is way too much, thank goodness i have only had the plants for 1 week.... will they still be fine or do i need to "flush" them?
 That yellowing looks like extreme overwatering rather than nute burn? I don't see the leathering on the leaves I normally associate with burn. Are you using nutes?
You mentioned you were watering once a day. That's fine. I sometimes water twice a day if needed. But how much water are you putting in? What type of soil is that? Many common potting soils are horrible sponges that drown your plant if you don't amend them. I use 8 parts potting soil to 1 part styrofoam packing peanuts by volume, and earthworms, 'cuz I'm a cheap bastard. Other folks use vericulite or perlite.
If you were using a lot of water - say, 1 to 2 cups a day in those pots - and the soil has high water retention, try letting the plant dry out for 3 to 10 days before watering again. Check soil moisture by sticking a blunt wooden toothpick or poker in from the bottom via the drainage holes. When it's dryish down there, restart watering slowly.
i use nutes, 2.5 ml of each nute bottle in2 two 800ml bottles and water approx. 100ml a day with each plant, plant 1 has the same soil it started with and plant 2 has osmocote and an improved growing formula and releases fert slower
What are the measurements for the walk in closet/growroom?
u should water every couple of days wait till about an inch of soil on the top is dry or untill the pot feels light wen u pick it up. u could switch to 24/7 i dnt know how much good it would do u might help u out some any way thats my 2 pence laters peace!
Got Some New Girls Today!
they look very nice but the previous owner said they werent being treated right so he asked if i wanted and well surely enough here they are! also my workmate gave me his old 400w hps so i now have two! in the pics below i have them both setup but i seeked advice from my dealer and he sgguests leave it for now till they start budding maybe so ive taken it out now.
Enjoy!!!
An update on the plants before i switch them to FLOWERING!!! one of the leaves on 1 plant the leaves are curling upward? anyway here they are..... just a quick q. flowering is 12/12? or 14/10?
Spread plants apart and improved airflow to room
my closet is sort of getting a wiff of a "nice" smell every now and then too lol:D
bruv what have u done to those plants there stretched to fuck and proper skinny no offence like but they look a mess!!
i only water them 1ce every 2 days, going to add nutes once they start budding, as far as i know i havent 'done' anything to the plants, if you could give me some advice on what needs doing instead of just critisise, that would be nice.
The light is approx. 3 feet above plants, the closet has 2 doors through it for airflow and i have 2 fans pushing air out and blowing on the plants, have a towel over one side of the door to keep the light in, my budget is very tight
sorry, i didn't backtrack... what kind of lights are you running? 3 feet sounds super far away to me...
kp
i have 2 400w hps lights but only using 1
Yep, you need to move the light closer. Instead of having the 2 fans pushing air out, have one pushing air in and the other pushing air out. This will allow for better circulation and (hopefully) let you move the light closer without burning the plants. You said you were on a budget, so instead of using a towel just use a cheap piece of pine attatched to some hinges to block the light out. The hinges will allow you to easily look at the plants from time to time.Quote:

About the nutes, always start off at 1/4 strength and then gradually build it up. From my (limited) experience with growing ganja, I would water with nutes twice and then the third time use plain 'ol water. This helps to prevent a buildup of salts in the soil. If youre using tapwater, let it sit for 24 hours in a bottle without the lid on to allow most of the nasty chemicals to evaporate.
Flowering is 12/12, but some people like to gradually shift from the vegging cycle to the flowering cycle because an instant shift can stress the plants. Theyve been stressed quite a bit already, so to reduce the chance of hermies (the plant having both male and female parts) I would increase the dark period by 1 hour each day until you reach the 12/12 flowering cycle.
IF the temps are manageable, you could add the other HPS in when you know which plants are male and which are female. Id only do this if you can keep the temps at a steady 25c (ish) because youll only end up burning the leaves and bud again.
Hope Ive helped mate! :)
Wouldnt let me edit my posts, so one other thing - MYLAR!!! Get some, its the most valuable - and cheap - piece of growing equipment you can buy. I believe WalMart sell it, but you can always get some from eBay for decent prices :)
Cheers for the info tom, will be getting a double freestanding wardrobe soon so airflow wont be a problem but as for now i have tried many setups with the fans i have, and atm i have what you said, 1 in, 1 out, but one of the fans is not too great but doing its job, moved the light closer but not too much, just going to gradually move it closer and when its right, its right i guess.
as for mylar, well we dont have wallmarts here but im sure ill find some but i think i will leave it for the wardrobe, main thing is to keep the plants happy!!!:D
thanks for your help, much appreciated!
sorry i took so long to get back to you, 2.2m(L), 2m(D) and roughly 3m(H)Quote:
