Are you nervous when dealing with Cops?

I hope this doesn't get confusing, I'm still not sure what I'm trying to say.

So I was just watching two episodes of Cops (When not watching football of course ;) ) and I noticed that the cops on the show often ask the person they are searching/talking to why they are acting so irregular/nervous. I know that some of the people on the show are nervous because they probably know they are about to go to jail but here is my main question....

How would you/have you reacted to cops searching you, whether you were carrying at the time or not? I've never been searched or arrested but even if I wasn't carrying anything I'd be shitting bricks.

I don't know, it just seems funny for cops to be asking why people are nervous when they have cops all over them.

cops say stuff like that becuase it gets them off to feel power over someone, they get off on there power, sexually, and thats all you need to know, usually there just trying to make up for lack of penis size or ability to get hard at all, sad but true.

o and me no i dont get nervous around the police, its just another human being that is no more invincible then yourself, now his gun, thats what im nervous of, poke an eye out with that thing.

Cops scare me, they're unpredictable, irresponsible, and most of them should not be trusted with that kind of authority. I've heard stories of dumb shit cops do, and it scares the shit out of me.

My teacher was telling me how a cop pulled someone over, asked him for his license and registration, ya' know, pretty standard thing. The dude goes in his glove-box and opens it, well, the handbook falls out. Cop shoots him in the head. Apparently the binding of the handbook resembled a gun...

You just never know when shit like that can happen, like purplehaze said, they're just other humans. Which makes them vulnerable to mistakes, and like I said...MOST shouldn't be trusted with that power.

Sometimes cops scare the crap out of me, especially when they talk to me. I think people become afraid or nervous when they talk to cops they become afraid of what they say and it might sound suspicious to them, and cops will start questioning you until they just put you in the corner where you can't get out. I think all you gotta do is just learn how to speak with them and its gonna be alright.

If you ARE carrying anything and you look nervous the cops will pick up on it. I dont get nervous because i dont want to let them think they're scaring me. Fucking pricks.

nobody likes cops, well, very few people like cops. Just remember that the fukin kids who talk shit to the cops when they get pulled over or try to be a hard ass are the ones they burn. Cops take the job because they like to feel above the law and get off on the power trip. So when they come up to you and try and make you feel like shit, let um. If you have a fuckin bag in your pocket and they ask, tell them. They will find it, but atleast if you act submissive and be honost with their pig asses, you have a chance at getting off easy. The hard asses that talk shit are the ones that get the fuckin book thrown at them every time

they dont have any right to search you, your car, or anything of yours without probably cause and if they ask you if they can search you ask them to state their probable cause for searching you.

i tend to get nervous just walking by for no reason... like theyre out to get me :/

Fuckin word....! BUT, where i live, if a cop pulls you over... for any reason, they can just call in for the drug dog and then you're fucked!! but either way, you got shit on you or not. NEVER willingly let them fuckers search you! Letting them search you only makes their jobs easier..

one time me and my boy were about to smoke
outside right behind this dep (corner store)
then 5-0 rolled up behind us
i thought maybe we were gettin busted for buying ganj lol
but it turns out a white guy and a black guy grabbed some woman that night
and coincedentally i'm white my boy is black haha...
but i noticed the pigs pulling in cuz i'm constantly lookin over my shoulder
so my boy had just enough time to toss the spliff and the other gram
but we handled it pretty well.

Usually they tell you why the pulled you over, and if they say you look nervous just tell them you can't afford the ticket because your late on bills and this is just another thing to worry about. Best plan no matter what is to learn not to act nervous, be polite and try not to bull shit them. If you act evasive or like you are hiding something they will dig deeper.
I got stopped for speeding on night by the state trooper, he asked me why i was speeding and I told him i was being stupid and didn't realize he was there. he laughed went to his car ran my name came back wrote my ticket for less then i was actually speeding. Told me to be careful and slow down. Little did he know i had been drinking about an hour before and had a joint in the ashtray. It all depends on how you handle it. Cops are trained to pick up on our reactions so if you act calm and honest hey it's a quick routine stop and nothing more right?

I've been pulled over so many times (never when I was driving)....and have had various substances on my person or someone else at different times. Anyway, I've never been arrested (even after they find the substances, which was probably most of the time). Cops are people, just talk to them normally, and not nervously...and they will let you go. It's happened to me too many times to count, so don't say it doesn't work. They really don't want to book you for petty offenses..trust me, but if you're being an idiot, they will want to get the best of you. Then a few other times not involving driving.

The person who said be a pussy is wrong, and the person who said about your rights is wrong too (not wrong...just asking for trouble, its rather unnecessary). Just be chill...that's it.

One time we got pulled over by some drug task force (I live in a big city) and had a powdery substance with us and alcohol (they followed us from the neighborhood we got it). My friend was cuffed in the car, and my other friend was close...but with a little calm talking from me, they let us all go. They even asked me, how are you being so calm and collective...one of my friends was being an ass and almost got taken, where as even if they did, I woulda been able to get off and drive the car home they said.

You don't have to like cops, but there's no reason to HATE them. Obviously what they are doing is not personal, its just what they do for a living...remember that. Some are assholes, and take their authority out of control of course, but give me a little power...I have no idea how I would take it...maybe the same as them who knows.

well just remember...
if you're driving and have some "stuff" on you
and a cop asks to search your Vehicle
simply say no, if you say no they can't do nothing
they can perhaps bring they're K9 to sniff out
but other than that they can't touch you for nothing

A lot of the time cops are just as nervous as the people they pull over considering at any second the person they are pulling over could pull a gun on them because they are carrying something else that is illegal. Even if you do have weed on you if you act nervous or like an asshole to a cop the results aren't going to be so good. If you just comply and talk to the cop respectably you should get off clean. If you are being pulled over its most likely cause of speeding or some other thing wrong with your car so there is no reason to let them catch you for possesion when they would just give you a ticket.

without cops we could still catch murderers
cops do the work that's there at the moment

There's no need for me to be nervous around cops in England, well unless i was pulled over and i had an O or a QB or something. Then it could get interesting. I think Americans have more rights regarding being searched, coz i was stopped and searched when i had weed on me and i told the cop, i don't consent to a warrentless search. He told me i'd been watching to many american movies... Well they did catch me and my friend smoking a joint so that was probable cause i guess. If i was in america and i had any amount of bud on me, even 0.1, i would keep my mouth shut and answer questions when i feel it would benefit me or not get me in trouble. I think it's a crime to lie to a cop but there's no crime in exercising your right to silence. You have the right not to incriminate yourself, use it!

i've been searched with a Half Pound on me and they still never found it....And i wasn't nervous at all.... I'm not scared of no fuckin pigs, all you have to do, if they do pull you over, or pull up somewhere with their cruiser is to make sure your in front of their car, so no matter what happens, it's all on camera...A cop once grabbed me behind the car, and held his fist to my face asking me if i wanted to get punched..... I told him to take me to the other fuckin side of the cruiser...and he didn't punch me, fuckin pigs.......

I have been in alot of situations where I could really get reamed by 'the system'. Bad things could have happened to be before i even got out of high school. Thankfully i got past that and got to college where I am semi-safe. I have been stopped while being 'very' illegal in more ways than one. I have calmed down as much as possible. I have never been arrested, which is very surprising. I feel my luck is about to run out. Cops=Ruin.

Cops integrate you in any way they feel is effective and because its their job. If nothin you did wrong besides what the cop felt you did then dont freak their not freakin' physic or all knowing, just good cops with charisma/persuasiveness as a confessional tool for the sake of ensuring safety to you and people around you; chill.

I've been fucking terrified of cops ever since I got caught with 5 joints (the cop only found 4, what a dumbass) and a pipe, got put on probation and fucked up my life for a year. Police are doing a job most people wouldn't or couldn't do and they take shit from halfwits who break the laws then wonder why the cops are hassling them.
If you don't break the law then the chances are you will never have to fear them (unless GW gets his police state) but since the majority of lawbreakers are sad fucks who don't get the principle of "do the crime, be prepared to do the time" then the police will always be your "enemy".
I was arrested last year for actual bodily harm and when they caught me I had 3 oz with me, I didn't try to fight or run simply because that would have gotten me nowhere and would only have made things worse. When they removed me from my home I asked them not to handcuff me and I would go without trouble and they didn't boher with the cuffs.
I live in the UK and I got a slap on the wrists in the form of a caution, I still believe it was because I put my hands up and didn't give them any shit that I got off so lightly.

I am never scared of cops and respect them for doing some realy horrible things that I couldn't do.
Telling a family thier loved one has been murdered can't be easy.
Dealing with rapists and kiddy fiddlers would just make me want to kill them so I wouldn't be a very good cop.
