does anyone else get depressed right after smoking?

Here's a little background on me: I usually smoke 3-4 times a week, and i definately enjoy being high. What i don't enjoy however, is the guilt that i get after said high. Yesterday school was cancelled because some kids slashed the tires on the school buses (fuck yes) so i decided it would be a good time to try the milk carton gravity bong that i had just made. Short story even shorter, i smoked a bowl of that and then a bowl out of my pipe about 45 minutes later. When i finished smoking it was about 8:30 am, and i had every intention of calling a friend and doing something. I honestly don't really remember much past that, i just know that i fell asleep around 1pm and woke up at around 4:30. I began to feel really depressed and guilty because i was planning to do something constructive that day, or socialize, or something, and all i ended up doing was getting high and eating. My guilt also was made worse when my mom got home and bitched at me for not studying or doing my chores all day. Does anyone else feel guilty for being high and not doing anything?

If you feel guilty about not doing anything when your high, do what I do.
Either bust out a bunch of work and 'reward' yourself with a bowl, knowing you can finally relax.
or
Get high and get to work. Working high is better then not working high.

I dunno, I think it's just or your personal problems because the only time I get depressed from smoking is if I never really give my chance to sober up in the day and if I just keep smokin and smokin and finally come down. Coming down is hard if I smoke all day. I do face depression, but I don't smoke like that anymore so no. I don't feel depressed after smoking.

If you regret smoking when you could've done something else that you'd enjoy more, it sounds like you aren't smoking at the "right" times. The best way to enjoy a recreational substance is to do it when it will enhance your experience of a certain time period. If it takes away from something you'd rather be doing at the time, then it obviously isn't a good choice to do it... but if you have nothing important to do, or at an event/party, or it helps you in a certain situation (work/school) without detracting from your ability to perform, then those are a few examples of good times to smoke.

Only during the day really, kinda for the same reason because I planned on doing something constructive, but really I never do anything all day so at least I got high.

I generally only smoke at night though, when the day is at an end and I don't have anything to worry about, so I don't get depressed or feel guilty about stuff.

I disagree. For me, smoking almost acts like an anti-depressant. I'll go all day just taking miniscule hits on the old pipe to keep a mild buzz going and if I just stay at that barely stoned level I actually function better. The best is the day after because for some reason I'm just in a great mood. this only happens when I smoke 5-6 times a week and start to get some tolerance. If I just smoke on the weekends I get burnt out.

i tend to get more motivated to do things like chores and homework because the only time they are interesting or fun to do is when i am high and listening to good music... dmb, who, flaming lips

maybe weed doesn't mix well with your brain chemistry... do you only get depressed when you are unproductive or is it always? maybe you just need to learn to smoke after you get your shit done... im just throwin' out ideas here.. that's all

Nah, that doesn't happen to me. I don't get depressed ever really. When I get burnt, I'm more bored that anything, but I'm still content.

Just wait tell you can move out man. Freedom, complete freedom. You can grow, eat icecream for breakfast, smoke in your room, whatever.

If you start getting anxiety, just remember to chill.

Are their outside sources that could be causing depression? I'm asking because I had a very bad time with depression a year or so ago.

After Hurricane Katrina, I got really depressed and didn't leave the house for nearly a month. I lost my job and had a couple ounces and just smoked all day everyday. The weed certainly wasn't helping, so when I finished my stash and didn't pick up anymore, went and got a job, went back to school, and than started smoking again when I was more emotionally stable.

In my case, if I'm already really depressed about something, smoking will only make it worse in the long run.

If you smoke 3-4 times a week, then you know how you get when you're high, which means you knew before even smoking that bong that you were gonna get fucked up and eat and then fall asleep. You blew your friend, and those chores off as soon as you decided to smoke. Just change your priorities.

You can avoid this by never doing anything constructive, ever. Then when you're high and you don't do anything constructive, you won't feel bad because you wouldn't have anyway.

i smoke about 6 times a week (normally at school tho). but when im at home i plan things i wanna do while im high. for example: ill plan a movie i wanna watch. or i normally put my music on and trip out for an hour or so. i dont like smoking and then sleeping straight after(seems kinda pointless to me).
