Is this a dumb Idea or am I on to something?

Just wanted to say thanks to "Pride" for the firecracker info. I've tried eating cannabis many times with limited success. This method blew my mind!

Anyways I've been reading alot on this forum and noticed a few things that gave me a crazy idea

1. Cannabis must be activated by some sort of oil / fat to be absorbed by eating

2. Cabbabis is not water soluble which is why it doesn't get trapped in the water when using a bong.

My question is lets say you put oil instead of water in a bong.... would the THC stick to the oil and stay there?

The reason I ask is that may be a simple way of extracting thc

Now lets say the THC did "stick" I would imagine that lots of the other nasty stuff we are trying to avoid by eating would get stuck in the oil too so....

What if you were to use a vaporizer and filter the vapor through the oil?

Actually smoking or vaporizing could be replaced by some sort of pump that drew the smoke/vapor through the oil

The end result I am looking for is maybe if this worked you could easily and quickly absorb THC into the oil making cannabis oil (not unlike cannabis butter) for cooking or possibly even keeping in a vial and dropping a few drops under your tounge.

I know I might be completely off track here but I thought I would put it out there since there seems to be alot of very intelligent people on this forum that might have some answers

Please post your results with this method. Also I wonder if you exhaled thru an oil pipe of sorts, could you capture the exhaled thc?

think of the end of the vape hose or the volcano 'mouthpiece'. For the Vapor Brothers whip end I took off the rounded mouth piece and replaced it with a 2 stage glass piece. One end fits tight in the whip hose, then there is a rubber washer piece to make a nice fit for the other glass end piece that fits into a glass piece coming out of my honey bear bong. So I put the end of the whip into the honey bear and inhale out the top. Same thing with the Volcano mouthpiece...I just put the end of the mouthpiece onto the honey bear piece, use a little pressure to open the valve of the Volcano piece and inhale. It works perfectly! So I imagine you could put oil into the honey bear setup, or have a second one to exhale into. I bought the parts off-the-shelf from my local shop.

You want to convert all those free available cannibidiols into more potent THC analogs and cannabinols?

This technique also will render a fully decarboxylized end product, as well as destroying many terpenes and aromatics which can improve or destroy a product depending on the original quality. It is important to understand this is not a full conversion to Æ?´9-THC, but to THC analogs and more active cannibidiols, and is included in this discussion more as an educational exercise. Basic isomerization takes place with a quick reflux of your cannabinoids in the presence of any H+ source (acid).

1. Treat your stuff as if it were a volatile solvent or critical fluid extraction.
2. With the remaining resin, dissolve it in a non-polar solvent. Be sure to use one that separates easily from water such as naphia or white gas.
3. Treat this mixture with sulphuric or hydrochloric acid until a pH around 1-2 is reached (approximately one drop of concentrated acid per gram of extract).
4. Place this in a reflux apparatus and cook it for about an hour. In case you¡¦re not familiar this is basically just Pyrex breaker with a large looped tube plugged into the top. This will cause the solution inside to be exposed to elevated pressures as well as temperatures, as well as preserving all of the original contents. Simply simply boiling the mixture in a small strong covered vessel can mimic it.
5. Wash what¡¦s left with water, keep the oil layer.
6. Neutralize your mix (bring it to pH 7.0) with a little Sodium Hydroxide solution (pH 9.0) or baking soda then rewash it with water. Save the oil layer again.
7. Allow your oil to evaporate and you should be left with a sticky amber liquid that contains almost pure THC.

I don't think that you would catch all the THC with the vapour/smoke just being bubbled through the oil. According to this board you have to simmer weed butter for 22-24 hours to get all the THC out.

But if you found a way to loop it through the oil/butter then you might be on to something. Obviously to do it properly you'd want to test what temperature works best for absorbing the THC and test the THC content of the vapour before and after going through the medium.

If anyone tries it out I'd be interested to know how it went.

Just a few points on what has been said (thanks for all the input so far!)

I don't think that the vapor/smoke would have to pass through the oil very long since the thc is being released from the ingition/vaporizing (burning). You have to simmer the cannabis in oil for a long time to release the thc since it is not being combusted. With this method the thc is already out and active from the cannabis and just needs to be collected by adhereing to the oil.

Also as far as running the vapor through an "oil filled" chamber is not too tricky at all, some vaporizers even come set up that way so the the vapor can be filtered through a water chamber for extra filtering and cooling such as the Aromed vaporizer. You just need to take a whip style vaporizer remove the hose from the whip and attach a new hose that goes into a water chamber then connect the rest of the whip that you inhale from into the output part of the water chamber.

I really like midlifecrisis idea but would not be sure about trying it myself for the first time as it sounds like you would not want to mess up with neutralization etc. Also I am interested on how you would ingest it once it is made.

i had that idea a long time ago search oil in bong . its a waste its gonna ruin ur bong and vegetable oil tastes like shit

i tried the organic peanutbuttber on crackers with ground up wee in middle like .5 per cracker put on like 375 in oven for 20 min then eat prob dosnt tastw to good but i tried it and gives u a nice buzz (good for b4 u goto bed)

i got the best idea tho. smoke a blunt. problem sovled.

theavidone- i thought of the same exact idea.. the vaporizer idea is new to me tho, its much more cleaner than smoking it because with the thc comes the impurities from when smoking it..

i read something about using lighter fluid butane to extract it the thc, like putting an oz inside a concealed bowl with a hole at the bottom and filling it with butane, which would somehow cause a rich thc-holding liquid would leak out of the bowl..

Extracting THC is easy. You just soak the cannabis in an Alcohol solution, then heat it up to eveaporate the chemical. What you'll be left with is a potent oil.

It's not that hard as it's easiest just to do it outside to be safe.

This method would not be good. One pass of a bowl load through some oil wouldn't be enough to capture the THC. The oil and cannabis need to be heated up together and simmered for at least 30 minutes.

Just smoke it, or make oil the real way.
