well i want to get them as big as possiable but some one told me that they grow only double in size in flowering so if i start flowering next week and the plants are only 13 inches then they will be 2'' 6' when they are ready. Is this right? And when do you have to start flowering? In a book i read it said 6 weeks of age, can you keep them in vegation stage for longer or will it hert the plants? And they are under cfls right now but next week they will be under a 250watt HPS and i feed them fox farms nutes and use super thrive every other watering. They are always keept in the best conditions (fans blowing on them , frsh air, and perfect temps).

They can as much as triple in size during flowering, but in general it will be closer to double in size than triple in size. Best of luck

heres a pics of one of them. It is the second tallest (13 inches), i have one about 2 inches bigger. Is this a good time to top them? If not when? And does anybody know of a good toping site or can anybody tell me / show me how to top a plant correctly?

i wouldnt top my plants unless i was worried about head room, i ussualy start to flower at about a foot and a little, and they get to be about 3+ feet, topping has very little positive effects.

i disagree w/ jackdawack on this statement . i used to get 3/4 -1oz. per. girl in dirt . when i top them i as much as triple my yield . how is that not a positive effect ?

I'd top around the 4th or 6th node. After that I'd low stress train the plant. This will give you 8-12 big main colas (2 tops for every node below where you top, but the more colas the smaller each will be or the longer you have to veg. 6 nodes produced this plant(nov 27th). 2nd pic is what it looked like the day it was topped (oct 13th)

Yes, I top at about the 4th through 6th node too and the ones in the pics above should have been topped long ago. Topping them now (assuming you're ready to begin flowering in the near future) will greatly reduce your bud harvest as the plant needs at least a month to recover from the removal. If done early in life they will double to triple in yield but if done late, shortly before harvest it will have the opposite effect. If those were in my garden I'd let them go as they are.

This is what happens when you FIM top a top 1 week before flowering. 2nd pic is a top from the same plant that wasn't topped. See the difference? If it was your only top on the plant, you'd be better off leaving it un-topped. My plant had like 7 or 8 main tops, and we topped a few and left the others normal to compare yields. Follow the log in my sig i'll let you know how it turns out when i harvest in like 3-4 weeks.

actually, some strains will not reach full yeild UNLESS you top. blueberry is a perfect example...

If you top your plants while flowering, it will stess them and they need time to recover obviously. So ur killing your yeild as your plant recovers, I really find no positive effects to have one large cola or 2 colas the same wieght as the one would be. Its just distrubuting between 2 colas as opposed to one. You think your getting more but i really dont think you are. I dont think you need or have to top to get your full yeild, because put simply i dont belive the people who rate the yeild levels top there plants. Also if grow correctly you should end up with your correct yeild. Blueberry strians dont have a side note telling you to top the plant. Its just my opinion, if you want more yeild Lst your plants. No one wants to stress there plant anymore then needed and cutting it at the top is sure enough going to stunt it at any point in the grow cycle. It just seems like a waste of time, u get to wait around an extra couple weeks cause ur plant needs time to rocover.
