basically, im gonna try a new way of growing, it probably wont work, but i guess its worth a shot... :) here is the plan...
it could be pretty small... stupid thing wouldnt upload until i made it small..

thats a pretty trippy way to grow man, are u plannin on just doin one plant and.. i just dont know why youd make that, is it to be artistic or something? Just wondering cause it seems less efficient than traditional ways.. it looks pretty dec tho.
Wow....have you ever thought of becoming a mechanical engineer? I have a feeling you'd be pretty good at it. I think with some primping, that idea could work. <you might want to patent it..lol..>
actually now that i look at it again you could prob do it with more than one, youd just have to find an easy way to drain the rezervoir. Are you considering doing this?
lol thnx for the nice words :) i put a seedling in it last nite, and it was alive last time i checked, it actually started looking up to the light, but i did have to turn it off so i dunno if it died...
lol yeh, i guess it is a weird design, i like to take something useful, from around my house (example: submersible pump) and put it to use...Quote:

lol no i havent, lol didnt think i would be any good, nice to kno someone thinks so tho..:)Quote:

to be honest i dont know why i made it, i think it was mostly because i wanted to make some kind of water feature with a weed plant growing at the top... the rest was just common sense..
i will do a photo update or something vaguely interesting sometime soon, so check back :)
its kinda like a one-plant flood & drain system, maybe you could put an air stone in there to oxygenate the water....dunno if it would help?
yeh, i was tryin to think of a way to do that, i have got a slightly bigger pump so i may be able to make a bigger better one for when it gets bigger, but at the moment the seed is alive and happy, still, i think my light mostly gives out orange spectrum so its taking its time...
Im gonna try to explain this a little further now, as there are some things i have barely covered, like the pot, so heres a short explanation of how this is made and most importantly, how it works...:)
Here is the plan... dont be mistaken, its not a photo..:) Its my masterpeice...

Right, so the water comes up from the submersible pump, up into the pot through the tube at the bottom of the picture, i put a little filter on it to catch any crap. :)
The electrical tape holds all the water in up to a certain level, just enough for the capillery roots to sit in, which seems to be working...
it mainly works by having half the roots in the water and half the roots out, it may grow slower, but its pretty cool anyway :)
the seedling is definately still alive, hopefully it will be able to establish roots that are mainly adapted for that type of watering, then i will make a bigger one....
I will get some photos soon when i can be bothered... peace...
It's "electrical" tape for a reason... It won't be water proof
this is my 1234th post!!! yaaaaaayyy!!!
pics when i can be fucked.... lol :)
finally got the pics... my light is really starting to piss me off, its only giving out the orange spectrum, and i need blue spectrum for vegg, the light works great for flowering... but fucking sucks for vegging... which comes as no surprise... anyway... pics...

after a bit of research, i found a little site with hydroponic lessons/methods/explainations whatever, and concluded this is a passive system, heres a brief quote from the site...
the difference is, that the water IS moving, which should solve the low oxygen problem... - i think im onto something...:)Quote:
Passive
The advantage of a Passive hydroponic garden is its low maintenance. A Passive system does not use pumps or timers to flood the root zone. The roots usually dangle in the nutrient solution and draw what they need from it. A Passive system is generally slower growing and not as intensive as the other systems discussed.
Because there is no water movement, passive systems will often have low oxygen levels. this can be remedied by adding a small air pump that pumps air into the nutrient reservoir.
ITS GROWING! lol it finally sorted its roots out and has started growing, its quite stretched, i put it too far from the light, but all is still well...
heres a couple pics ;)

Pretty Sweet, dude...
cheers m8, im in the process of making another one, this time with three pots, and the pots will be bigger too... so far its looking real simple, all im using is one submersible pump, some pvc pipes and a couple pots... very easy for any newb with a submers. pump to make too... hopefully theis works a treat ;) - peace
thats cool as hell what happened - almost been a month without a post lol
i 4got.... lol
its in soil now tho...
thats a really lame idea...its pointless..u better off build your self a bubbler with a 3 gallon bucket in a 5 gallon bucket with a airpump and use stones with slits on the bottom....problem solved
sweet ab ,
stickin a toe in the dro.
peace
